Call or Text (352) 722-5295Shocks for the 2010-2018 RAM 6.7L Cummins
The fourth-generation 6.7L Cummins Ram rides on solid axles front and rear, with coil springs and a track bar up front. For 2013 the trucks got a new frame with hydroformed main rails and fully boxed rear rails, a wider and stronger front suspension, and a rear upgraded for heavier payloads. For 2014 the 2500 switched to a five-link coil rear that keeps the axle positioned, with optional rear air suspension, while the 3500 stayed on leaf springs with rear air available. Each of those changes shows up in the shock listings, which split by model and around the 2013 and 2014 changeovers.
What shocks can and can't fix
Shocks control how the truck rides and settles, but on these Rams they are not the leading cause of death wobble. That is the track bar: its bushings soften and let the axle shift, and on 2013-and-later trucks the factory bar can need replacement around 20,000 miles. Worn ball joints and tie rod ends rarely cause wobble on their own but add to it, because play in every joint stacks up. If wobble or wander is the complaint, the first fixes are a rigid track bar, a performance steering damper and heavier tires.
Choosing a shock
Pick fitment first, then the series. Fitment means front or rear, 2500 or 3500, 2WD or 4WD, and factory rear air or not. The listings here come in three Bilstein families, B6 4600, B8 5100 and B8 5160, and each product page explains what that series is built for. If the front end has been leveled on a 2013-and-later truck, know that the height change also changes caster and track-bar angle, and suspension builders call for a rigid track bar alongside it.
What we carry
- Bilstein B8 5100 front and rear shocks for early and late trucks, including a rear anti-wrap power hop shock for the 2014-and-later 2500.
- Bilstein B8 5160 front and rear shocks for the 2013-and-later 3500 and 2014-and-later 2500, including rears for 2500s without air leveling.
- Bilstein B6 4600 front and rear shocks, including 2WD rears and a rear for 2014-2018 2500s with factory air suspension.
- Fleece Performance Engineering FPE-LPSM low-profile shock mounts, listed for 1994-2012 Cummins Rams.
Fitment notes
Do not cross rear parts between suspension types: the 2010-2013 2500 is leaf, the 2014-2018 2500 is five-link coil with or without factory air, and the 3500 is leaf throughout. Trucks with factory rear air need air-specific components, and several Bilstein listings name air or no-air fitment. Some listings show split end years such as 2013/12, so check those ranges against your exact model and year. Chassis cabs need their own check, and a VIN lookup settles the rest.
Frequently asked questions
Will new shocks stop death wobble on my Ram 2500 or 3500?
Usually not by themselves. The leading cause on these trucks is a worn track bar letting the axle shift, with worn ball joints and tie rod ends adding to it. Shocks are worth replacing when they are worn, but they will not take play out of the steering or the axle location.
My 2500 has factory rear air suspension. Which rear shock do I need?
Use a rear shock listed for factory air. In this collection that is the Bilstein B6 4600 listed for 2014-2018 2500 4WD trucks with factory air suspension; several other 2014-and-later rears are listed for trucks without air leveling and are the wrong choice for your truck. Check every listing for the air note.
