2018-2023 Ram 1500 3.0L EcoDiesel Parts & Upgrades

Everything here fits the 2018-2023 Ram 1500 with the 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 — the half-ton diesel, never a 2500 or 3500. The one thing to know before you order: the 2019/2020 break splits this platform into two different bodies and two substantially different engines, so parts rarely cross it. Check your VIN.

The 3.0L EcoDiesel in the 2018-2023 Ram 1500

The EcoDiesel is a 3.0L 60-degree DOHC V6 built by VM Motori in Italy, with a compacted-graphite-iron block and aluminum heads. It is a 1500 engine only. The 2018 trucks and the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic carry the second-generation engine, 240 hp and 420 lb-ft, behind a ZF 8HP70 eight-speed. For 2020 the third generation landed in the fifth-generation DT body at 260 hp and 480 lb-ft at 1,600 rpm, with new pistons, new cylinder-head intake ports, new injector nozzles, a water-cooled variable-geometry turbo, a second low-pressure EGR loop that draws exhaust after the DPF, and the ZF 8HP75. Ram called it roughly 80 percent new parts. 2023 was the final model year, Crew Cab 4x4 only.

Which truck do you actually have?

"2019 Ram 1500" means two different trucks. The 2019 Ram 1500 Classic is the older DS body and the one that got the EcoDiesel; the all-new 2019 DT was not offered with a diesel. Every 2020-2023 EcoDiesel is a DT, Quad Cab or Crew Cab, no regular cab. Body, suspension, driveline, brake and lighting parts follow the body and cab, not the engine badge.

What fails and why

The Bosch CP4.2 high-pressure fuel pump is the defining weak point on this platform. It can fail internally and push metal debris through the rails, lines and injectors. Warning signs are a fuel leak at the pump, excessive pump noise, a check-engine light or a Service Electronic Throttle Control message, power loss, a stall or a no-start. Stellantis has recalled every model year on this page: 22V406 covers 2014-2019, 22V767 covers 2020-2022, and 23V263 covers 2021-2023 per NHTSA. Run the VIN and get the open campaign done; the remedy is a new pump plus inspection of the downstream fuel components. On 2014-2019 engines the EGR cooler can crack and let vaporized coolant into the EGR system, where it can combust in the intake — a fire risk, covered by recall 19V757, which replaces the cooler and inspects or replaces the intake manifold as needed. Those years also carry recall 20V475, expanded as 23V411, for a crankshaft position sensor tone wheel that can delaminate so the engine loses sync and stalls, usually with P0335 or P0336 stored. Soot is the other running theme. The crankcase breather and both EGR loops feed the intake tract, so oil pools in the charge air cooler and the intake-manifold swirl valves load up until you see P200A or P200B and the whole manifold comes off; owners report that work at roughly 58,000 miles and again past 125,000. On 2020-2021 trucks owners also report a seized alternator that keeps the starter circuit engaged and cooks the starter, leaving a no-start with no stored codes.

Stock replacement vs. upgrade

Most of what this truck asks for is service-grade: oil pan gaskets, serpentine belts, idler pulleys, coolant recovery tanks, thermostat housings, grille shutters, fuel filters and water separators. Buy those to factory spec and move on. The upgrades worth money address the engine's own habits. A crankcase oil and water separator pulls oil and water vapor out of the breather stream before it reaches the intercooler and manifold; PPE's kit is listed for 2020-2023 trucks. A bar-and-plate intercooler with cast end tanks, five-ply silicone hoses and billet quick-connects replaces the crimped plastic factory end tanks and tired charge-air plumbing, and chewed or cracked hoses are worth ruling out before anyone condemns a turbo for P0299. For power, the compliant route on this engine is a CARB EO-numbered inline module that trims fueling and boost through the OBD-II port and sensor harness with no ECM reflash and no change to the emissions system. Exhaust work is filter-back: it bolts on behind the DPF and leaves all of the aftertreatment in place.

What we carry

Service and gasket parts come from Mahle, Dorman and DAYCO — oil pan gaskets, coolant reservoirs, thermostat housing assemblies, idler pulleys and main drive belts. On the fuel side there are FASS water separator filters, PPE billet fuel caps and crankcase separation hardware, and Exergy Performance injection parts. MBRP covers filter-back systems — its listed EcoDiesel systems are for the 2014-2018 DS truck — plus universal mufflers and resonators. Lighting runs from Anzo USA LED taillights and projector headlights to AlphaRex housings. For hauling, B&W Trailer Hitches adjustable ball mounts (including MultiPro/MultiFlex shanks), Air Lift helper springs with onboard compressors, and transmission coolers. Ride height runs from Daystar leveling kits to BDS Suspension lift kits. Add Mishimoto cooling parts, Lucas Oil additives, Edge Products monitors and EGT kits, and Wehrli Custom Fabrication traction bar hardware and shop equipment.

Fitment notes

Nothing crosses the 2019/2020 line without a part-number check. DS and DT are different chassis, and the two engine generations share little. Injector nozzles changed for 2020, so treat injectors and pumps as generation-specific. The 8HP70 and 8HP75 are different transmissions; pans and filters may cross, internal hard parts and torque converters do not. Filter-back exhaust is body-specific too, since DS and DT have different wheelbases and exits. Leveling and lift hardware depends on whether your truck has coil springs or the four-corner air suspension, and air helper springs are for coil-sprung rear axles, not factory air-ride. Lamps follow the body and the factory lamp type on the truck. Hitches and bumpers follow the rear frame, not the engine. Aftermarket intake manifolds arrive without the swirl-valve actuator and sensors, which transfer from the original. And never order a Ram 2500 or 3500 driveline part for this truck — the half-ton uses a different axle family. Verify by VIN.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 3.0L in my Ram 1500 a Cummins?

No. The 3.0L diesel in the Ram 1500 is the EcoDiesel, a 60-degree V6 built by VM Motori for FCA and Stellantis. People search it as a Cummins because Ram's heavy-duty trucks use Cummins engines, but the two engines share no parts and no chassis. Everything on this page is for the 1500 EcoDiesel.

Will 2019 parts fit my 2020?

Often not. A 2019 EcoDiesel is a Ram 1500 Classic on the DS body; a 2020 is the DT. Ram says the 2020 engine is about 80 percent new parts, including pistons, head intake ports, injector nozzles, the water-cooled turbo and the dual-loop EGR system, and the chassis changed with it. Body, suspension, driveline, brake and engine hard parts all need a part-number check across that break.

My truck stored P200A. Does that mean a new intake manifold?

Usually, yes. Those codes come from the intake-manifold swirl valves loading up with EGR soot and crankcase oil, and the fix at the dealer is the complete manifold. Owners have reported the job at roughly 58,000 miles, some under the federal 80,000-mile emissions warranty, and again past 125,000 miles. Keeping breather oil out of the intake tract with a separator is the preventive side of it.

Can I add power without touching the emissions system?

Yes. The compliant path on the EcoDiesel is a CARB EO-numbered inline module that adjusts fueling and boost targets through the OBD-II port and the factory sensor harness, with no ECM reflash and the DPF, SCR and EGR left fully functional. Because more fueling means more exhaust load, watch regen status and DEF level while you run it.

Can a basic code reader command a DPF regen?

No. A generic OBD-II reader will show you codes but cannot command a regeneration or run actuator tests on this truck; that needs Mopar-capable software. A dash monitor is still worth having, because the factory cluster only gives a coarse exhaust filter percentage and DEF range — owners watch regen status, EGT, boost and transmission temperature instead.

What can a 2020-2023 EcoDiesel pull?

The third-generation engine's 480 lb-ft at 1,600 rpm gave the DT a maximum rating of 12,560 lb when properly equipped, which depends on cab, drive and axle ratio and on the Max Tow Package. Verify the package and the rating by VIN before you plan around the top number. If you tow near it, heavier pads and rotors over the factory 15-inch setup and a hitch matched to your rear frame are the sensible first steps.
