Call or Text (352) 722-5295Transmission parts for the 2007.5-2009 RAM 6.7L Cummins
The parts on this page, all for the 6.7L Cummins pickups, sort into four jobs. It helps to know which one you are doing before you start building an order.
- Service: the 68RFE runs two filters, an external spin-on (Mopar 5015267AD) and a sump filter (5013470AE), and it takes ATF+4. Fluid and both filters are due every 120,000 miles normal or 60,000 severe.
- Cooling and capacity: deep pans and auxiliary coolers, listed alongside valve bodies and converters as the 68RFE upgrade parts.
- Pressure and internals: valve bodies, pressure control kits, line pressure sensors, overdrive parts, a billet input shaft and staged Build-It kits.
- Driveline and mounting: flex plates, flex plate hardware and transmission mounts.
Where these transmissions wear
The 68RFE is a band-less clutch-pack automatic with a dual-face converter lockup clutch that can lock from 2nd gear up. Under heavy towing or added power, the valve body, line pressure and converter lockup go first, and the symptoms are converter shudder, slip under lockup, burnt fluid and overdrive clutch wear. That is why so many parts here target line pressure and the overdrive section. If the truck drops into limp mode, the 68RFE holds 4th gear.
G56 manual trucks wear differently: the dual-mass flywheel ages out, the input shaft bearing suffers from heat, and the fluid breaks down with heat too. This section carries G56 fluid. For dual-mass flywheel, clutch or master/slave work, call the shop.
What we carry
BD Diesel brings the most 68RFE internals: PROTECT68 pressure control and gasket plate kits, a pressure control module, the Pressureloc line pressure booster, a billet input shaft, Big Stack overdrive shaft kits, billet overdrive reaction plates, a one-way clutch, a valve body, Stage 2, 3 and 4 Build-It kits, Xtruded coolers and a cooler fan. ATS Diesel Performance covers Allison conversion install and electronics kits and a line pressure sensor. Mishimoto has truck-specific and universal coolers plus a cast aluminum pan, and the Fleece cooler and line kit is built for 2007.5-2009. Pans also come from PPE, XDP and Mag-Hytec; gaskets from PPE and MAHLE; fluid from Hot Shot's Secret and Lucas Oil. XDP and BD supply flex plates, DNR Customs an install kit, and Anchor the transmission mounts.
Fitment notes
The 68RFE pickup, G56 manual and AS68RC chassis cab transmissions do not share filters, pans, coolers or converters, so start by confirming which one you have. Read the year range on every listing: the BD valve body is listed for 2008-2010, the XDP line pressure sensor for 2007.5-2017 with the 68RFE, and one Mishimoto radiator and cooler bundle is titled for the 2003-2007 5.9L, not the 6.7L. The PPE spin-on filter is listed for trucks running the PPE deep pan. Verify by VIN when in doubt.
Frequently asked questions
Which filters does a 68RFE service take?
Two. The external spin-on filter is Mopar 5015267AD and the sump filter inside the pan is 5013470AE. A filter kit that only includes one of them is not a complete service.
Is a deep pan worth it on a 2007.5-2009 Ram?
Deep pans are one of the standard 68RFE upgrades, along with auxiliary coolers and valve body work, for trucks that tow or make added power. PPE, XDP, Mishimoto and Mag-Hytec all make 68RFE pans in this section. If you choose the PPE deep pan, PPE also lists a spin-on filter made to work with it.
Why are there so many line pressure parts for the 68RFE?
Because the valve body, line pressure and converter lockup are where the 68RFE fails first on hard-working trucks. BD's PROTECT68 kit, pressure control module and Pressureloc booster, plus line pressure sensors from XDP and ATS, all work on that part of the transmission.
