2007.5-2009 Dodge 6.7L Cummins Transmission Pans

Transmission pans and pan gaskets for the 68RFE automatic in the 2007.5-2009 Ram 2500 and 3500 with the 6.7L Cummins. The pan covers the 68RFE's sump filter, one of two filters this transmission uses, so a pan job is also the time to service both filters and refill with ATF+4.

The 68RFE pan on the 6.7L Cummins

The 68RFE six-speed automatic came in with the 6.7L Cummins for 2007.5. It runs ATF+4 and uses two filters: a sump filter inside the pan (Mopar 5013470AE) and an external spin-on filter (Mopar 5015267AD). Fluid and filters are due every 120,000 miles under normal service and every 60,000 miles under severe service. Any filter kit you buy should include both. Deep pans, valve bodies, converters and coolers are the upgrade parts for this transmission.

Stock pan vs. deep or cast pan

If you are only servicing the transmission, the factory pan goes back on with a new gasket. A deep pan adds sump volume, and deep pans are one of the standard upgrades stocked for the 2007.5-2009 6.7L. Burnt fluid is one of the symptoms ATS lists for 68RFE trucks that tow heavy or run more power than stock, so those are the trucks where a deep pan and regular fluid checks earn their keep.

Fitment notes

These parts are for the 68RFE only. The 2007.5-2009 trucks used three transmissions: the 68RFE in automatic pickups, the G56 manual, and the Aisin AS68RC in 3500/4500/5500 chassis cabs. Pans and filters do not cross between them. The PPE deep pan here is listed for 1989-2009 5.9L and 6.7L Cummins trucks, so check its product page against your transmission before ordering. Verify by VIN.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I service the 68RFE?

The interval is 120,000 miles under normal service and 60,000 miles under severe service, with ATF+4 and both filters replaced. A pan swap is a good time to do it, since the sump filter sits behind the pan.

Do I need a gasket with a new pan?

Check the pan's product page to see what is included. If you need one, the PPE, MAHLE and ATS 68RFE pan gaskets in this collection are listed for the 2007.5 and later 6.7L Cummins.

Will these pans fit a 3500 chassis cab?

Not if it has the Aisin AS68RC automatic. The AS68RC uses its own filter (68019688AA) and parts, and 68RFE pans do not cross over. These pans are for the 68RFE in 2500/3500 pickups.
