Only automatic trucks use a flex plate. Behind the 6.7L Cummins, pickups with an automatic got the 68RFE, whose dual-face lockup converter can lock in 2nd through 6th. Manual trucks with the G56 use a dual-mass flywheel and a hydraulic clutch instead, so nothing on this page applies to them. When owners build a 68RFE for towing or added power, the new converters are a big step up from stock; ATS rates its Five Star and TripleLok converters at over 1,700 lb-ft. A tow-rated or billet flex plate is the matching piece on the engine side of that build.

Fitment notes
The XDP and BD flex plates are listed for 2007.5-2018, and the ATS plate for 2007.5-2024 conversion builds. The bolt and install kits also cover earlier 5.9L years, so they are not 6.7L-only parts. If your truck is a chassis cab with the Aisin AS68RC, call before ordering, since that transmission does not share converters with the 68RFE. Verify by VIN when in doubt.
Frequently asked questions
Does my G56 manual truck need a flex plate?
No. The G56 uses a dual-mass flywheel with a hydraulic clutch, not a flex plate. When that flywheel wears out or the truck makes more torque, the standard fix is an upgraded clutch kit, often with a single-mass flywheel conversion.
Can I get new bolts with a flex plate?
Yes. XDP sells the XD654 Flex Plate Bolt Kit and DNR Customs sells a Cummins flex plate install kit, both listed here. Ordering the hardware with the plate saves a second trip when the transmission is already out.
