Automatic pickups behind the 6.7L Cummins use the Chrysler 68RFE six-speed, and it was built with dual filtration. The factory parts are the external spin-on filter, Mopar 5015267AD, and the sump filter, Mopar 5013470AE. The transmission takes ATF+4, and the factory schedule calls for fluid and both filters every 120,000 miles under normal use or every 60,000 miles under severe use. Valve body, line pressure and converter lockup trouble shows up first on trucks that tow heavy or carry added power, and burnt fluid is one of the signs, so keeping fluid and filters on schedule matters on a working truck.

Fitment notes
Everything here is for the 68RFE. Chassis cabs with the Aisin AS68RC automatic use a different filter, Mopar 68019688AA, and do not share filters with the 68RFE. If your truck has an aftermarket deep pan, check which filter that pan was designed around before you order. Verify by VIN when in doubt.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to change both 68RFE filters at every service?
Yes. The 68RFE uses two filters, and a filter kit should include both the sump filter and the external spin-on filter. Changing only one leaves half the job undone.
Will these filters fit my 3500 chassis cab?
No. The 3500 chassis cab came with either the G56 manual or the Aisin AS68RC automatic, and the AS68RC takes filter 68019688AA with Mopar ASRC or Mobil 3309 fluid. These filters are for 68RFE pickups, so call the shop if you are not sure what is in your truck.
