Call or Text (352) 722-5295Turbo accessories on the 2010-2018 RAM 6.7L Cummins
The factory turbo on the 6.7L Cummins is a Holset variable-geometry unit: the HE351VE on 2010-2012 trucks and the HE300VG on 2013-2018. The serviceable accessories on that VGT are the electronic actuator, the speed sensor and, on 2009 and later turbos, the access ports in the turbine housing. Add the mounting gaskets, oil feed line, drain tube and clamps, and you have the list of parts worth having on the bench before the turbo comes off.
What fails and why
Factory Holset actuators typically fail around 5,000 operating hours, and their electronics are rated to 140°C. When one goes, boost drops to zero, the exhaust brake quits or stays engaged, and the truck drops into limp mode. The codes separate the problems: P00AF almost always means the actuator and P003A is a learn-limit fault, while P226B and P226C mean the vanes are stuck in the turbo. Speed-sensor faults and leaking oil seals are on the list of VGT failures too. Before you buy an actuator, pull the old one and move the turbo's gear lever by hand. It should move smoothly with about an inch of total travel. If it is seized, a new actuator will not fix it.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
For a factory-style repair, look at Cummins genuine parts, the remanufactured actuators and MAHLE mounting gaskets. Factory Holset actuators must be calibrated with a dealer-level scan tool; some aftermarket actuators self-calibrate, so read each listing before you plan the job. On the upgrade side, flexible oil drains, titanium turbo blankets, constant-tension clamps and complete install kits are the extras to consider while the turbo is already off. If you run an S300 or S400-style turbo, the S300/S400 oil lines here are made for that hardware, and the T4 and T6 gaskets and blankets are sized by turbine flange rather than by truck.
What we carry
Complete turbos for this truck live in the drop-in collection, and every platform is in our turbo collection. This page is the supporting hardware.
- BD Diesel: remanufactured actuators (1045922 for 2007.5-2012, 1045923 for 2013 and later), the 1407046 actuator harness adapter, the 1045983 mounting kit, 12-inch and 23-inch flexible oil drains, and V-band and high-torque clamps.
- Fleece Performance Engineering: drain tube and drain service kits, a factory-style oil feed line and feed fitting for Holset turbos, the VGT installation kit, a turbine shaft speed sensor and VGT coolant plugs.
- Cummins genuine: the 5550060 turbo speed sensor and 5266419 turbo-to-manifold gasket for 2013-2018, and the 5347703 VGT actuator harness adapter for 2007.5-2012.
- Alliant Power: a remanufactured 2013-2018 actuator and the AP0186 installation kit.
- MAHLE: the GS33616 mounting gasket set, the G32463 mounting gasket, and T4 and T6 flange gaskets.
- Turbo blankets: PPE titanium woven T4 and T6 blankets, Mishimoto titanium blankets and an ATS Diesel Performance T4 blanket. PPE also offers a T4 oil drain fitting.
- G&R Diesel and EvilFab: S300/S400 oil supply and drain lines, plus an EvilFab 6.7L oil drain line.
- Calibrated Power Solutions: the Stealth Boost Tester HD regulator and compressor inlet adapters. Turbosmart constant-tension clamps round it out.
Fitment notes
2010-2012 and 2013-2018 actuators are not interchangeable: BD Diesel's 1045922 covers 2007.5-2012 and the 1045923 covers 2013 and later. Harness adapters, the Cummins speed sensor and the Cummins manifold gasket are year-specific as well, so read the year range in each title. Chassis-cab 3500, 4500 and 5500 trucks often take different turbo parts than pickups. Blankets, T4 and T6 flange gaskets and S300/S400 lines are matched to the turbo you run, not the truck. Verify by VIN with the fitment checker.
Frequently asked questions
Does a P00AF code mean I need a whole new turbo?
Usually not. P00AF almost always points to the actuator, which is a separate, replaceable module. Confirm the turbo's gear lever moves freely by hand before you buy, because stuck vanes (P226B or P226C) are a turbo problem a new actuator will not fix.
Will a replacement actuator work straight out of the box?
It depends on the actuator. Factory Holset units have to be calibrated with a dealer-level scan tool, while some aftermarket actuators self-calibrate. The listing will tell you which kind you are getting, and we install what we sell if you would rather hand it off.
Which actuator fits my truck?
Go by model year. 2010-2012 trucks use the HE351VE turbo and 2013-2018 trucks use the HE300VG, and their actuators do not swap. BD Diesel builds a remanufactured actuator for each range, and Alliant Power offers one for 2013-2018.
