Call or Text (352) 722-5295Mufflers on the 2019-2024 RAM 6.7L Cummins
Every 2019-2024 Cummins pickup runs cooled EGR, a DOC, a DPF and SCR with DEF. Exhaust passes through all of that first, then through the factory muffler and out a single tailpipe. That last stretch behind the SCR is what a DPF-back kit replaces, and it's where a muffler or resonator goes. The DPF and SCR assembly itself stays on the truck. Ram also put new exhaust attachments on the 2019 truck as part of its noise and vibration package, so the way the system hangs on this generation is new for 2019.
Choosing a muffler
Muffler choice on this truck comes down to pipe size, sound and how you use the truck. Pipe size first: the complete Banks and MBRP DPF-back systems for this platform are 5-inch, so if you're running one, a 5-inch muffler is the match. For a quieter ride on long highway or towing days, MBRP makes Quiet Tone versions in both 4-inch and 5-inch. For a high-flow design, MBRP has the GP290022 Armor Plus 5-inch muffler. Resonators shape the tone, and MBRP offers its diesel resonators in aluminized or stainless steel, plus the M20681 Armor Lite resonator muffler. One thing a muffler won't do is fix trouble upstream. Constant regen messages, long cranks or SCR codes like P204F and P20EE point to the DPF or the DEF system, not the muffler, so get those diagnosed first.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
If only the muffler needs replacing, a universal MBRP 409 stainless muffler in the right diameter fits into the existing pipe. If you want the whole back section done at once, the complete DPF-back kits from Banks and MBRP are in the Exhaust collection for this truck and replace the factory muffler and tailpipe section together. Either way, everything ahead of the muffler, from the turbo through the SCR, stays factory.
What we carry
Every muffler here is from MBRP: the GP290022 Armor Plus 5-inch high-flow muffler, the M20681 Armor Lite resonator muffler, the Armor Lite 5-inch Quiet Tone muffler, the universal 4-inch Quiet Tone muffler, universal 4-inch and 5-inch 409 stainless mufflers, and MBRP diesel resonators in aluminized and stainless steel. Tips, DPF-back systems and other brands are on our main exhaust page.
Fitment notes
These are universal mufflers, so they fit by diameter and length, not by cab or bed. Measure the pipe and the space you have before ordering. Complete DPF-back systems are a different story: they're specific to cab and bed length, and dually 3500s need DRW-specific kits. DPF-back parts carry over from 2019 through 2026 on Banks and MBRP listings. If your truck is a chassis cab, its DEF and EGR parts can differ from a pickup's, so verify by VIN.
Frequently asked questions
Will changing the muffler affect my DPF or SCR?
No. On the 2019-2024 Cummins the muffler sits in the tailpipe section behind the SCR, and the DPF and SCR assembly stays in place when you change it. Banks and MBRP DPF-back kits replace this same section.
Should I buy a 4-inch or 5-inch muffler?
Match the pipe it's going into. If you're running a 5-inch DPF-back system like the Banks Monster or the MBRP S61640409, a 5-inch muffler is the match. If you're keeping a smaller pipe, the 4-inch 409 stainless and 4-inch Quiet Tone mufflers are the options here.
What's the difference between a muffler and a resonator?
Both go in the same section behind the SCR. The muffler does the main sound control, and a resonator is used to shape the tone. MBRP offers resonators in aluminized and stainless steel, plus the M20681 Armor Lite resonator muffler.
Can you install a universal muffler for me?
Yes. Our shop in Wildwood, FL installs everything we sell. A universal muffler has to be fitted to your pipe, so if you'd rather not cut and clamp it yourself, bring the truck in.
Not sure what fits? Call the shop at the number in the header, or use the fitment checker on any product page. We install everything we sell.
