2019-2024 Ram 6.7L Cummins Gauges & Monitors

This page collects digital monitors and monitor hardware for the 2019-2024 Ram 2500 and 3500 with the 6.7L Cummins. The one thing to know before you buy: these trucks put a Security Gateway Module in front of the OBD-II port. It lets a monitor read engine data but blocks devices that try to write to the truck, so a read-only gauge is the right tool.

Digital monitors on the 2019-2024 RAM 6.7L Cummins

From the factory, the fifth-generation Ram HD gives you a 7-inch color driver display in the cluster, and from 2023 an available 12-inch frameless digital cluster. An add-on monitor works differently. It plugs into the OBD-II port and reads the data the engine and transmission are already reporting, including boost, exhaust gas temperature, transmission temperature, and DPF soot and regen status. You get those numbers on a screen you mount where you can see it.

There is a maintenance reason to watch, too. The 6.7L Cummins cleans its DPF with in-cylinder post-injection, and that extra fuel can thin the engine oil. Long idle time and short, cold trips make it worse. A monitor that shows regen status tells you when the truck is in a regen instead of leaving you to guess.

What goes wrong and why

Monitors on this truck don't have a known hardware failure pattern. The real-world snag is the Security Gateway Module that FCA put on 2018 and newer trucks. It allows normal OBD-II reads, so a gauge monitor connects and shows data the way it should. What it stops are write functions: changing tire size, setting up remote start, or flashing the computer. If a device connects but won't do one of those jobs, the gateway is what's blocking it.

Factory screen vs. an add-on monitor

If the truck mostly runs empty around town, the factory display may cover you. An add-on monitor earns its spot when you tow, when you want a screen dedicated to the readings you care about, or when you want an input from an extra sensor. The Edge Insight CTS3 sold here is a monitor only. It reads; it does not tune the engine or change the calibration. That also means the gateway doesn't get in its way.

What we carry

This collection is built around Edge Products hardware:

  • Edge Insight CTS3: a universal touchscreen monitor that works on any OBD-II vehicle from 1996 on.
  • Edge 38603 A-Pillar Display Mount: made for the 2019 and newer Ram 2500/3500, so the monitor gets a fixed home on the A-pillar.
  • Edge EAS EGT Kit (Daily Driver/Tow Kit): an exhaust gas temperature sensor kit that adds an external sensor to an Edge monitor.
  • Edge EAS Pressure Sensor (0-100 PSI): a pressure sensor input for the same monitors.

Fitment notes

The 38603 mount fits 2019-2026 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups, but not trucks equipped with the factory Head-Up Display. Pillar mounts are generation-specific, so don't count on a mount from an older Ram carrying over to this body. The CTS3 itself is universal OBD-II, so it can move with you to your next truck. The Edge sensor kits are listed for Edge CS2, CTS2 and CTS3 monitors; if you run something else, check with us first. Not sure whether your truck has the Head-Up Display? Verify by VIN before ordering the mount.

Frequently asked questions

Will the Security Gateway on my 2019-2024 Ram block a gauge monitor?

Not for reading data. The gateway allows normal OBD-II reads, so a read-only monitor like the Edge Insight CTS3 connects and displays engine data. What it blocks are write commands, such as tire-size changes, remote start setup and flashing.

What can the Insight CTS3 show on a 6.7L Cummins?

It reads the factory data the truck already reports over OBD-II, including boost, exhaust gas temperature, transmission temperature, and DPF soot and regen status. If you want a reading from a sensor you add yourself, Edge's EGT and pressure sensor kits plug into it.

Does the CTS3 tune my truck?

No. The Insight CTS3 on this page is a monitoring tool only. It watches the engine and transmission and does not change the calibration. Nothing in this collection rewrites the engine computer.

Will the A-pillar mount fit a Ram with the Head-Up Display?

No. Edge's 38603 mount fits the 2019-2026 Ram 2500 and 3500, but not trucks with the factory Head-Up Display. Check your window sticker or build sheet, or give us your VIN and we'll confirm before you order.

Do I need the EGT kit if the monitor already reads EGT?

Not necessarily. The CTS3 already reads the factory exhaust gas temperature data through OBD-II. The EAS EGT kit adds Edge's own external sensor to the monitor, and Edge packages it as a daily driver and tow kit. Tell us how you use the truck and we'll help you decide whether it adds anything for you.
