Which rear axle you have depends on model and GVWR. The covers in this collection are listed as 12-bolt for the Sterling 10.25/10.5 and 14-bolt for the Dana M275 and M300. That narrows it down, but the tag on the axle or the door-jamb axle code makes the final call. F-350 dually owners: the Dana 80 used through 2016 is not on 2017 and later trucks, so skip any Dana 80 parts.
Pulling the cover drains the axle, so plan the fluid with the cover. The Sterling 10.50 takes 75W-85 at 3.3 to 3.6 quarts, the Dana M275 takes 75W-140 at 3.6 to 3.8 quarts and the Dana M300 takes 75W-140 at 3.8 to 4.5 quarts. Limited-slip units get Motorcraft XL-3 friction modifier as well. There is no documented chronic rear-axle failure pattern on the 6.7L Powerstroke Super Duty of this era, so most cover swaps are reseals or upgrades rather than repairs.

Fitment notes
Several rear covers are listed for single-rear-wheel trucks only, including the Mag-Hytec F14-275 and the SPE Sterling cover. The BD Diesel cover's title reads 1989-2016 SRW Super Duty, so confirm 2017-2019 fitment with the checker on the product page before ordering it. The F-350 DRW and F-450 carry a 9,650 lb rear axle rating against 7,280 lb on the F-350 SRW, so match the cover to the axle tag, not the badge on the fender.
Frequently asked questions
Will a Dana M275 cover fit a Dana M300?
Do not assume it. Both are 14-bolt rears in the listings here, but PPE sells separate M275 and M300 covers and the two axles take different amounts of fluid. Order the cover that matches your axle tag.
Do I need a new gasket with a rear cover?
Check the product page to see what sealing and hardware the cover includes. For resealing a factory cover, MAHLE's P32716 rear cover gasket is listed for 1999-2023 Powerstroke trucks and the P38155TC for 1994-2023.
Do these covers fit an F-350 dually or F-450?
Some do and some do not. Several covers here are marked SRW only, and DRW trucks carry a different rear axle rating and ratio lineup than SRW trucks. Read the SRW or DRW note on each listing and check it against your axle tag.
