PPE's DANA M300 14-bolt rear differential cover is a heavy-duty cast aluminum replacement cover for 2017-2025 Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Super Duty trucks with the Dana M300 rear axle. It is heat-treated A356.0-T6 aluminum with half-inch cooling fins, and it adds 0.8 quart of fluid capacity. You buy it to run cooler differential fluid and protect the gears and bearings.

Fitment

Fits 2017-2025 Ford Super Duty pickups with the 6.7L Power Stroke that have the Dana M300 14-bolt rear axle. The axle decides the fit here, not the engine. Our engine tag runs from 2017 to current, but the title stops at 2025, so we list the narrower range: verify fitment by VIN.

Fitment note: Make sure to order the correct differential cover for your application. The diff covers on the DANA M275/M300/M315 axles look very similar, all with 14 bolts. Verify ring gear sizing before ordering.

Not sure which axle is under your truck? Send us the VIN and we will check it before you order.

Why this part

Heat is the enemy of differential fluid. Excessive heat degrades the fluid's protective qualities, which leads to accelerated wear of gears and bearings. In a limited-slip differential, constant high temperatures can break down the clutch packs and friction modifiers, which costs efficiency and compromises traction control.

PPE goes after that heat three ways. The cover is cast from high-grade A356.0-T6 aluminum alloy, a high-strength material that conducts heat well. Half-inch external fins pull heat out of the fluid for long-lasting heat management and make the cover more resistant to impacts. And the cover adds 0.8 quart of fluid capacity, which gives the axle more thermal capacity to work with.

Inside, precision-placed windage scrapers spread fluid evenly around the gears. Cutting down excessive churning lowers heat buildup, fluid aeration and parasitic power loss, so power transfers more efficiently. The internal scrapers and the vertical external fins together form a cross-bracing structure that improves load distribution and impact resistance, and cast-in gussets support the differential housing flange for extra rigidity.

The fill plug is precisely positioned at the factory level. Both the fill and drain plugs carry a high-temperature-rated neodymium magnet that captures ferrous particles for added protection.

What you get

About Pacific Performance Engineering

Pacific Performance Engineering (PPE) has built diesel truck parts since 1985 from its base in North Las Vegas, Nevada. The company made its name on 6.6L Duramax parts before expanding into Ram Cummins and Ford Power Stroke. Cast aluminum pans and covers like this differential cover sit alongside its exhaust, transmission, fuel system, cooling and steering parts.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know my truck has the Dana M300 and not an M275 or M315?

Do not go by the bolt count. All three covers have 14 bolts and look very similar. Verify ring gear sizing before ordering, or send us your VIN and we will check which rear axle your truck was built with.

How much extra fluid does the cover hold?

It increases oil capacity by 0.8 quart. Plan on that extra fluid at the fill. The fill plug is set at the factory level, so fill to the plug as you normally would.

Does it help a limited-slip rear?

Heat control matters most there. Constant high temperatures can break down limited-slip clutch packs and friction modifiers. The fins, extra fluid capacity and windage scrapers all work to lower differential fluid temperature.
