Ford's first in-house 6.7L Powerstroke uses Bosch high-pressure common rail fed by a CP4.2 pump, a Garrett GT32 SST DualBoost variable-geometry turbo, the 6R140 TorqShift six-speed, and a full aftertreatment system with a DPF, SCR with DEF dosing, and EGT sensors. Pickups make 400 hp and 800 lb-ft after Ford's 2011 recalibration. An OBD-II monitor plugs into the diagnostic port and shows what the PCM already sees: boost, exhaust gas temperature, fuel rail pressure, transmission temperature and trouble codes. A monitor that only reads data needs no CARB EO number, because it does not change the calibration.
What fails and why
No monitor fixes a part, but it can catch one going bad. On 2011-2012 trucks the factory EGT sensors had a failure history: Ford issued recall 13S10 for Ambulance Package trucks, and pickups saw sporadic failures. A failed sensor can bring up a stop-safely-now message and shut the truck down while you drive. An aftermarket monitor with its own EGT probe gives you a second, independent reading, so you can tell a bad sensor from real heat. The turbo, the CP4.2 pump, transmission heat and regeneration behavior are where the expensive surprises live, and each one leaves a trail in the data first.
Stock gauges vs. an add-on monitor
There is no OEM part to replace here; the choice is whether to add a monitor and how far to take it. The Edge Products Insight CTS3 is a 5-inch touchscreen that reads EGT, transmission temperature, boost and rail pressure, pulls codes, and logs data. It is a monitor only, so no CARB EO is required. One thing to plan for: the Insight can be upgraded to an Edge Evolution tuner with a software change, and once it tunes, the CARB EO rules for tuning apply. If you want a dedicated pyrometer reading, Edge EAS add-ons such as an EGT kit and pressure sensors daisy-chain into the CTS3.

Fitment notes
The Insight CTS3 is sold as a universal OBD-II monitor, so it is not tied to cab, bed or trim. Mounts are where model years matter. The SPE mounts cover 2008-2016, which takes in every 2011-2014 truck. The No Limit Edge Clean Mount is listed for 2013-2019, so if you own a 2011 or 2012, confirm fitment before you order. F-350 through F-550 chassis cabs use a different turbo and a 300 hp calibration, so check chassis-cab fitment on the product page. When in doubt, verify by VIN.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a CARB EO number for a monitor on my 2011-2014 6.7L?
Not for a monitor that only reads data. Edge states that the Insight CTS3 84130-3 needs no CARB EO. If you later upgrade that Insight to an Evolution tuner, the CARB EO rules for tuning apply to the tuned unit.
Why add an EGT probe if the truck already has EGT sensors?
The factory sensors sit in the aftertreatment. On 2011-2012 trucks those sensors had a failure history that could shut the truck down. A separate probe from the Edge 98620 EAS EGT Kit gives you an independent reading to compare against.
What does the Insight CTS3 show on this truck?
It is a 5-inch touchscreen that displays EGT, transmission temperature, boost and fuel rail pressure, reads trouble codes and logs data. On an engine where the turbo, the CP4.2 and transmission heat are the expensive failures, those are the numbers worth watching.
Can I add my own sensors to the Insight CTS3 later?
