Every EcoDiesel Ram 1500 in this range uses a short/long-arm independent front and a coil-sprung rear axle located by links. Ram's 2021 spec sheet lists it as a multi-link coil rear, and the DT body is a five-link design that weighs about 225 lb less than the older DS. The 2018 Ram 1500 and the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic are DS trucks; 2020-2023 trucks are DT. Both bodies also offered optional four-corner air suspension.
Each part on this page works at one spot on that layout. Upper control arms locate the top of the front knuckle. Shocks and coil-overs control the springs at each corner. Helper air springs sit at the rear axle and add adjustable support. Traction bars run between the axle and the frame.
What wears and what gets replaced
We do not have a documented EcoDiesel-specific spring or shock failure to point to on these trucks, so we will not tell you one is coming. Components are usually bought as part of a plan. Upper arms go on because the truck was lifted. Helper springs go on because it tows or hauls. Shocks get swapped when the owner wants a different ride or is building the truck up.

- Radflo: a 2.5-inch front coil-over kit and a 2.5-inch rear shock, listed for 2014-2018 DS trucks.
- WCFab: universal 60- and 68-inch traction bars, a Ford/Dodge/universal bracket and hardware install kit, and traction bar bushings and heims.
Fitment notes
DS and DT suspensions are different designs, and parts do not cross between them. The Radflo pieces are listed for 2014-2018, which in this range means the 2018 Ram 1500; 2019 Classic owners should confirm by VIN. Air-ride and coil-spring trucks take different hardware, so know which you have before ordering. The WCFab traction bar parts are universal, and the Ram 1500 locates its rear axle with links on coil springs rather than leaf springs, so call us before ordering and we will confirm whether the brackets suit your truck. The BDS arm kits are listed for 4WD.
Frequently asked questions
Which BDS upper control arm kit do I need?
Match the kit to your lift height. BDS builds them for 2-3 inch lifts and for 4-6 inch lifts, listed for 4WD EcoDiesel trucks. Check your lift kit's parts list first so you do not buy arms twice.
Can I add Air Lift helper springs to a truck with factory air suspension?
Check before you buy. Factory four-corner air was optional on both the DS and the DT, and air trucks take different hardware than coil-spring trucks. Use the fitment checker on the Air Lift product or call us with your VIN, and we will confirm what fits.
Do the Radflo shocks fit a 2020-2023 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel?
Not as listed. The Radflo front coil-over kit and rear shock are listed for 2014-2018 DS trucks, and the DT suspension is a different design. For a DT, look at the BDS lift and leveling kits offered with FOX coil-overs.
Do traction bars make sense on a Ram 1500?
It depends on the truck and how it is used. The WCFab bars here are universal lengths with a universal bracket kit, and the Ram 1500 rear is a link-located coil setup, not leaf springs. Call us before you order and we will tell you whether a traction bar setup fits your build.
