Call or Text (352) 722-5295Mufflers on the 2010-2018 Ram 6.7L Cummins
From the factory, the 6.7L Cummins runs a 4-inch tailpipe with the muffler built into the section behind the aftertreatment. On 2010-2012 pickups that section follows the DPF; on 2013-2018 pickups it follows the SCR catalyst. That tailpipe section is what a DPF-back system replaces. Some systems, like the Banks Monster, swap it for a constant-diameter, mandrel-bent pipe, while others stay at 4 inches and go to dual exit. A standalone muffler or resonator lets you build your own setup in that same space.
Why owners change the muffler
Sound and flow, mostly. Owners replace this part for how the truck sounds and breathes, not because the muffler is a known failure point on this platform. The known exhaust trouble on these trucks is the manifold up front and the aftertreatment. If you are building a system, decide first whether you are staying at 4 inches or going to 5, then choose the muffler body and tone to match.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
A complete DPF-back system is the bolt-on route, because it is built for the truck and listed by cab and bed. A universal muffler or resonator is the build route. It is sized by diameter, not by truck, so it gets cut into the pipe and welded or clamped. MBRP's Quiet Tone mufflers are the pick if you want the truck quieter, and the Armor Plus 5-inch high flow muffler is built with flow in mind. Resonators can go in alongside a muffler when you are shaping the sound of a custom setup.
What we carry

- The M20681 Armor Lite resonator muffler and diesel resonators in aluminized and stainless steel.
Complete filter-back systems for this truck are in the full exhaust collection.
Fitment notes
Universal parts fit by diameter. A 4-inch muffler matches the factory 4-inch tailpipe or a 4-inch system, and a 5-inch muffler belongs on a 5-inch system. It goes in the tailpipe section behind the DPF, or behind the SCR on 2013-2018 trucks. Chassis cabs use different exhaust routing, so measure those before ordering. If you are not set up to cut and weld, a complete DPF-back system or a shop install is the easier path. We install what we sell here in Wildwood, FL.
Frequently asked questions
Should I buy a 4-inch or 5-inch muffler for my Ram?
Match the pipe. The factory tailpipe is 4 inches, so a 4-inch muffler suits a stock-diameter setup or a 4-inch system. A 5-inch muffler belongs on a 5-inch DPF-back system. Measure before you order.
Does changing the muffler affect the DPF or SCR?
No. The muffler sits in the tailpipe section behind the DPF, and behind the SCR on 2013-2018 trucks. That is the same section a DPF-back system replaces, so the DOC, DPF and SCR stay in place.
Do I need a whole exhaust system or just a muffler?
If you want bolt-on fitment matched to your cab and bed, buy a complete DPF-back system. If you are building your own setup or replacing just the muffler, a universal MBRP muffler in the right diameter does the job.
