Call or Text (352) 722-5295Engine components on the 2010-2018 Ram 6.7L Cummins
This is the hard-parts bin for your 6.7L Cummins. The engine is a grey cast-iron inline six with a cast-iron head, 4.21 x 4.88 in bore and stroke, solid roller lifters and a chilled ductile-iron camshaft. Standard engines are 17.2:1 compression; the High Output is 16.2:1. The valvetrain uses adjustable lash, set to 0.010 in intake and 0.026 in exhaust, with a factory lash check at 150,000 miles. That service is specific to 2007.5-2018 engines; the 2019 and newer engine does not call for it. Up front are the timing gear case and its cover, and the crankshaft is sealed front and rear with seals sold with or without a wear or repair sleeve.
What fails and why
The common wear items across 2010-2018 are the grid heater assembly, the exhaust manifold and its bolts, the head gasket, the water pump, the VGT actuator and the fuel heater connector. The fuel heater connector has a recall: 14V-635 covers 2010-2014 trucks built from March 27, 2009 through September 5, 2013, for connectors that could overheat and leak fuel. The exhaust manifold shrinks through heat cycles, even on stock trucks, which snaps bolts and opens leaks at the head. Camshaft and lifter failures with cold-start ticking show up in 2013-2014 owner complaints, but they are isolated reports, not a pattern. Treat a tick as something to diagnose, not as proof the cam is gone.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
If you are resealing a stock engine, Cummins genuine gasket sets and seals, Mahle seals and Dorman timing-case parts put it back to factory. Upgrades matter when you add boost and rpm. The recognized high-boost valvetrain package is 110-lb valve springs, thick-wall chromoly pushrods and billet rocker-arm bridges. XDP valve springs, retainers, pushrods, rocker arms, trunnions and billet valve bridges cover that ground here. Fleece makes its billet bridges per engine range, splitting 2010-2012 and 2013-2018, so match yours. XDP also makes heavy-duty bolt-on freeze plugs and a harmonic balancer bolt set for the same rebuild.
What we carry
Cummins genuine parts cover piston kits, the engine oil pump, rocker box housing, upper and lower gasket sets, the camshaft gear, front crankshaft seals, rear main seals and the cable-style dipstick. Mahle adds rear main seal sets and crankshaft seals. XDP MFG brings timing cover bolt kits, the camshaft position sensor, bolt-on freeze plugs, valve springs and retainers, pushrods, rocker arms, trunnions, billet valve bridges, a stock-replacement harmonic balancer and head studs. Dorman supplies the timing gear case housing, timing case front cover and fan parts. You will also find engine components from Hamilton Cams and Fleece Performance Engineering, Anchor engine mounts, an Alliant Power oil, fuel and coolant temperature sensor, a Mishimoto replacement oil cooler and a Banks Power engine cover with a billet oil cap. Parts from G&R Diesel, Gator Fasteners and Wehrli Custom Fabrication are here too.
Fitment notes
Three splits drive fitment in this collection. First, High Output versus standard: HO engines in 2013-2018 3500s with the Aisin use 16.2:1 pistons, so confirm any piston kit matches your engine's build before ordering. Second, 2010-2012 versus 2013-2018: lower gasket sets, the timing case front cover, fan parts and the left engine mount are listed by range. Third, chassis cabs: Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 chassis cabs share the engine but differ in frames, filters and exhaust routing, so confirm those separately. When in doubt, verify by VIN.
Frequently asked questions
Which parts wear out most on a 2010-2018 6.7L Cummins?
The common wear items across these years are the grid heater assembly, the exhaust manifold and bolts, the head gasket, the water pump, the VGT actuator and the fuel heater connector. Several of those have their own collections. This page covers the internal and front-of-engine hard parts.
Do I need valve springs and rocker bridges on a stock 6.7L?
The 110-lb springs, thick-wall pushrods and billet bridges are high-boost, high-rpm upgrades. If your truck is stock and you are only resetting lash, the factory valvetrain is what Cummins designed for it. Plan the upgrade when you add boost.
Is there a recall on the fuel heater connector?
Yes. Recall 14V-635 covers 2010-2014 trucks built from March 27, 2009 through September 5, 2013, for fuel heater connectors that could overheat and leak fuel. Run your VIN through a recall lookup to see whether your truck was included and whether the work was done.
How often should valve lash be set?
The factory schedule calls for a lash check at 150,000 miles on 2007.5-2018 engines, with specs of 0.010 in intake and 0.026 in exhaust. Lash is also set before and after the hot re-torque on any head job. The 2019 and newer engine does not require this service.
