This section is everything that is not a filter, a fluid or a complete gearbox. On the 68RFE behind the 6.7L Cummins, that means the band-less clutch-pack internals, the valve body and pressure control, and the dual-face lockup converter that can lock from 2nd gear up. The upgrade parts for this transmission are valve bodies, converters, deep pans and coolers, and the build kits here combine several of them. Overdrive clutch wear is one of the signs a 68RFE is losing the fight with heavy towing or added power.
Coolers
Pick truck-specific or universal. Mishimoto offers the MMTC-RAM-03SL cooler listed for 2003-2009 5.9/6.7L trucks, the MMB-RAM-003 radiator, trans cooler and intercooler bundle for 2007.5-2009, and the MMB-RAM-001 radiator and cooler bundle, plus universal coolers in several sizes, one with its own fan. Fleece sells a cooler and line kit built for 2007.5-2009 6.7L trucks. BD Diesel adds Xtruded auxiliary and double-stacked coolers, an auxiliary cooler with multi-platform fitment and an electric cooler fan.
68RFE internals and pressure control
BD carries the deepest list: Stage 2, 3 and 4 Build-It kits, some paired with a torque converter, a billet input shaft, billet overdrive reaction plates, Big Stack overdrive shaft kits, a one-way clutch, a valve body listed for 2008-2010, a pressure control module, PROTECT68 pressure control and gasket plate kits, the Pressureloc line pressure booster and a high-idle kit. ATS Diesel Performance covers Allison conversion install and electronics kits. Line pressure sensors come from ATS and XDP, and Anchor supplies transmission mounts, including one with a heat shield. DNR Customs adds a flex plate install kit.
Fitment notes
Read the years and engine on every listing. The Mishimoto MMB-RAM-002 bundle is titled for the 2003-2007 5.9L, so a 6.7L owner wants the MMB-RAM-003 instead. The BD valve body is listed for 2008-2010, and the XDP line pressure sensor for 2007.5-2017 with the 68RFE. Universal coolers fit many trucks but are not built for yours, so plan the mounting and lines. None of the 68RFE internals fit the G56 manual or the AS68RC chassis cab automatic. Verify by VIN when in doubt.

Where should a 68RFE rebuild start?
With the parts that fail first: the valve body, line pressure and converter lockup, especially if the truck tows heavy or makes added power. Overdrive clutch wear is one of the signs, and BD's Big Stack overdrive shaft and billet reaction plate kits are overdrive-section parts.
