The 6.7L Powerstroke uses a two-piece setup: an upper pan sealed to the block with RTV and a separate lower pan underneath. On 2011 trucks the lower pan is plastic. For 2012 Ford switched to a stamped-steel lower pan with a conventional drain plug, part of the same round of running changes that revised the oil cooler and turbo fittings. Because of that change, some pan parts are 2011-only, and the SPE and Mishimoto drain plugs on this page are listed for 2012-up trucks.
What fails and why
The 2011 plastic lower pan warps and seeps as it goes through heat cycles, and it gets worse with age. You'll see drips from the bottom of the pan and an oily crossmember. The upper pan is the bigger headache. Its RTV seam is the most common oil leak on this engine, and together with the rear cover it collects oil at the bell housing, where it's often misdiagnosed as a rear main seal. Fixing it means dropping the transmission or lifting the engine, roughly 10 to 15 hours of work. Before you buy anything, trace the leak from the highest wet point down with UV dye. The vacuum pump gasket, heat-hardened turbo oil feed and drain O-rings, and leaks pushed out by a clogged CCV separator are the other common sources, so rule them out.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
For a leaking 2011 plastic pan, a stamped-steel 2012-style lower pan is the OEM-style fix; the Dorman 264-452 is a direct-replacement lower pan listed for 2011-2024 trucks. If you want more than stock, No Limit Fabrication's 67OP billet pan is built to replace the 2011 plastic pan and adds oil capacity. PPE's heavy-duty cast aluminum pan, the AFE Pro Series pan, the Mag-Hytec pan and SPE's pan are the other aftermarket choices. With the pan off, replace the gasket and consider fresh bolts; MAHLE gaskets and XDP's black-phosphate bolt kit are here for that.

Fitment notes
The SPE and Mishimoto drain plugs are listed for 2012-up 6.7L trucks, which lines up with the stamped-steel pan's conventional plug; a 2011 still on its plastic pan is a different setup. The MAHLE OS32434 upper pan gasket set is listed 2011-2014 only, while the lower pan gasket runs 2011-2022. The ATS plug is made for ATS pans and differential covers, so match it to one of those. Use the fitment checker on each product page or verify by VIN.
Frequently asked questions
Is the oil at my bell housing a rear main seal?
Often it isn't. On the 6.7L, the upper oil pan's RTV seam and the rear cover leak into the same spot and get misdiagnosed as a rear main seal. Trace it with UV dye from the highest wet point down before you commit to a 10 to 15 hour job.
What should replace a leaking 2011 plastic oil pan?
A stamped-steel 2012-style lower pan is the OEM-style fix, and the Dorman 264-452 lower pan is listed for 2011-2024 trucks. If you want extra capacity, the No Limit 67OP billet pan replaces the plastic pan outright. Check that the drain plug you buy matches the pan you install.
