Intake accessories on the 2019-2024 Ram 6.7L Cummins

On the 2019+ 6.7L Cummins, the Holset HE300VG turbo is rated to about 33 psi, and all of that pressure has to make it through a chain of tubes and joints. Charge air leaves the turbo through a 2.70-in hot-side tube, crosses the intercooler, returns through a 3.15-in composite cold-side tube (Mopar 52014735AB), and enters the cast intake elbow that holds the grid heater. The joints between those pieces are couplers held by clamps. Around that path sit the parts on this page: the intake air temperature sensor, the gaskets that seal the intake manifold, filter wraps and covers, and positive air shutdown valves, which stop the engine by closing off its air supply.

What fails and why

Couplers, clamps and the plastic cold-side tube are the wear and leak items on this truck. When one lets go, it's a boost leak, and owner complaints on 2020 3500s link charge-air leaks with underboost code P0299 and regens that come more often. Ram's TSB 09-003-26 for P0299 starts with a PCM update and the correct air filter, so if those are done and the code comes back, go looking at the joints.

When the elbow is off, shops still inspect the grid heater bolt. The loose-bolt failure is strongest on 2007.5-2018 engines and very rare on 2019+, but a bolt that drops into the manifold can do catastrophic damage to the number 6 cylinder. Grid heater codes P2609 and P0542 or a loose terminal plate are the warning signs.

Stock replacement vs. upgrade

Factory-style parts put it back the way Ram built it. The Mishimoto MMBK-RAM-19 boot kit is made to factory fit, the Cummins IAT sensor 5698454 is a genuine part, and MAHLE gasket sets cover the intake manifold, the EGR valve and the cylinder head when a job goes deeper. Upgrades focus on keeping the joints tight. The S&B 4-in silicone coupler comes with its own clamps, and BD Diesel sells a high-torque hose clamp. Fitment notes

Not every part here is model-year specific. The Cummins IAT sensor is listed for 2007.5-2026 6.7L engines, and the MAHLE head set, EGR valve gasket and BD grid heater kit for 2007.5-2024. The MAHLE intake manifold gasket set and head gasket set, PPE spacer, Mishimoto boot kit and S&B filter wrap are listed for 2019-2024. Frequently asked questions

What wears out first in the charge path on a 2019+ Ram 6.7L?

The boost-tube couplers, the clamps and the plastic cold-side tube, Mopar 52014735AB. Those are the leak points. A leak there shows up as lost boost and can set P0299, so a fresh boot kit and good clamps are worth doing whenever you have the piping apart.

Do 2019-2024 trucks have the grid heater bolt problem?

Rarely. The bolt loosening and dropping into the manifold is strongest on 2007.5-2018 engines and very rare on 2019+. Shops still inspect it whenever the elbow is off, because a dropped bolt can wreck the number 6 cylinder. Watch for grid heater codes P2609 or P0542.

Was the grid heater relay on my truck recalled?

If it's a 2021-2023, check. Ram recalled the relay for electrical shorts and fire risk: 21V-163 covered 2021 builds and 21V-798 covered 2021-2022. 23V-060 (FCA 13A) superseded 21V-798, covers 2021-2023 and came with a park-outside advisory. The dealer replaces the relay.

Will these accessories fit a 2025 Ram?

Most won't carry over without checking. For 2025 Ram swapped the grid heater for glow plugs and changed the intake manifold. The Cummins IAT sensor is listed through 2026; the year-specific parts here stop at 2024, so verify by VIN.
