2018-2023 Ram 1500 3.0L EcoDiesel Fuel Rail Parts

Rail plugs, rail-end adapters, unions, tees and rail caps for the 2018-2023 Ram 1500 3.0L EcoDiesel, from Exergy Performance. These are threaded high-pressure fittings, so the thread size in each title has to match what is on your rail or line. The rails on this engine run at 29,000 psi, so these parts go on clean and correct, or not at all.

The fuel rails on the 2018-2023 Ram 1500 3.0L EcoDiesel

The EcoDiesel uses Bosch common-rail injection, which Ram called MultiJet II. The CP4.2 high-pressure pump feeds the rails, and the rails feed the injectors at 29,000 psi. That number held from the 2018-2019 Gen 2 engine to the 2020-2023 Gen 3, which got new injector nozzles. The rails also come into play on jobs that have nothing to do with fuel. Owners who have replaced the intake manifold on a Gen 3 truck report that the job typically means moving the fuel rails.

What goes wrong

The rail problem owners worry about starts upstream. The CP4.2 can fail internally and send metal debris through the rails, injectors and lines, which leads to fuel starvation and stalls. Stellantis recalled the pump on every year here (22V406 for 2018-2019, 22V767 and 23V263 for 2020-2023). The remedy is a new pump plus inspection or replacement of other fuel-system parts. If your truck had a failure, ask the dealer what was replaced before you buy rail parts.

Choosing the right fitting

  • 1-018-133 M18x1.5 rail plug: closes an M18x1.5 rail port.
  • 1-018-132 M18x1.5 rail end to M14x1.5: adapts an M18 rail port to an M14 line.
  • 1-018-129 M14x1.5 union: joins two M14 ends.
  • 1-008-003 M14x1.5 three-way T: splits one M14 line into two.
  • 1-018-043 M14x1.5 plug and nut (rail cap): caps off an M14 port.
  • 1-018-148 and 1-018-149 M12x1.5 to -6AN and -8AN: high-flow supply fittings named for the CP3 pump.

The CP3 supply fittings deserve a second look on this truck. Every EcoDiesel from 2018 to 2023 uses a CP4.2, and no factory-supported CP3 conversion is documented for this engine, so call us before ordering them.

What we carry

The fittings here come from Exergy Performance: the rail plug, rail-end adapter, union, tee, rail cap and the AN supply fittings listed above. Exergy sizes these by thread, so they are not listed by truck.

Fitment notes

Confirm the thread size on your rail before you order; the size is in every title. Injector nozzles changed for 2020, so anything tied to the injectors should be matched by part number to your generation. A 2018 Ram 1500 or 2019 Ram 1500 Classic is Gen 2, and a 2020-2023 Ram 1500 is Gen 3. If you are not sure what is on your engine, verify by VIN or call the shop.

Frequently asked questions

Do these Exergy fittings bolt onto a stock EcoDiesel rail?

They are sold by thread size, not by truck, so they fit only if the thread matches. Check the port on your rail against the M18x1.5 or M14x1.5 size in the title. If you can't confirm it, call us before ordering.

Do I have to move the fuel rails to replace the intake manifold?

Owners who have done the intake manifold on a 2020-2023 truck report that it typically requires moving the fuel rails. Plan for that labor, and keep every open fitting clean while the rails are off.

Did the CP4.2 recall cover the rails?

The remedy is a new pump plus inspection or replacement of the other fuel-system parts, and debris from a failed pump travels through the rails. What gets replaced depends on what the dealer finds. Ask for the repair order before you buy rail parts.
