Call or Text (352) 722-5295Suspension components for the 2014-2017 Ram 1500 3.0L EcoDiesel
This page is for owners replacing or adding individual parts rather than buying a complete lift or leveling kit. Start with what the factory installed. The front is independent, with upper and lower A-arms, coil springs and twin-tube shocks. The rear is a solid axle on a five-link setup with a track bar and coil springs, again with twin-tube shocks. Trucks with the optional four-corner air suspension swap the coils and shocks for air springs at all four corners, so read each listing's air-ride note before you order.
What wears and when to look
FCA schedules a front suspension and tie-rod end inspection every 20,000 miles. That inspection matters on this truck: many owners report that worn ball joints, tie-rod ends and control-arm bushings show up as loose steering or a shake at speed after a bump, mostly on higher-mileage trucks. At the rear, recall 14V-392 covered shocks with insufficient welds on some 2014 trucks. If you own a 2014 and hear a clunk from the rear, check the recall status by VIN before you buy replacement shocks.
What we carry and how to choose
- Shocks and coil-overs. Radflo offers a 2.5-inch front coil-over kit and a 2.5-inch rear shock listed for the EcoDiesel; the rear is listed for 4WD. They replace the factory twin-tube units on a coil-spring truck.
- Upper control arms. BDS Suspension sells upper control arm kits sized for 2-3 inch lifts and for 4-6 inch lifts, listed for 4WD EcoDiesel trucks. Match the kit to the lift height you run.
- Load support. Air Lift covers the LoadLifter 5000 helper spring kit, which adds up to 5,000 lb of load-leveling capacity on coil-spring trucks, plus the Ultimate Plus stainless steel upgrade. For on-board air there are WirelessONE and WirelessAIR compressor systems and tanks, single and dual load controllers, a replacement compressor and air hose.
- Spacers for lifted trucks. Air Lift notes that lifted trucks may need air spring spacers. You will find 2-, 4- and 6-inch straight spacers, 4- and 6-inch angled spacers and a universal air spring cradle.
- Traction bars. Wehrli Custom Fabrication makes universal WCFab traction bars in 60- and 68-inch lengths, with a separate bracket and hardware install kit and replacement bushings and heims. Because this truck's rear is a five-link coil setup, call us before ordering so we can confirm mounting and clearance.
Fitment notes
Every part here is for the half-ton Ram 1500 with the 3.0L EcoDiesel. Check for factory air suspension first; the LoadLifter 5000 does not fit it. Check your drive next, because several listings are 4WD only. Listings marked 2014-2018 or 2014-2023 include your model year, and the EcoDiesel did not change mechanically between 2017 and 2018. The WCFab parts are universal, so they carry no truck-specific fitment. Verify by VIN when in doubt.
Frequently asked questions
Will Air Lift helper springs work on a lifted EcoDiesel?
It depends on the lift. Air Lift notes that lifted trucks may need air spring spacers, and that large lifts with link relocation can interfere with the helper springs. Tell us your lift brand and height and we will match the spacer to it.
Which BDS upper control arm kit is right for my truck?
Pick by lift height. BDS sizes its kits for 2-3 inch lifts and for 4-6 inch lifts, listed for 4WD EcoDiesel trucks. If you are running a different brand of lift, call us with the kit details before you order.
Can I add an on-board compressor later?
Yes. The LoadLifter 5000 helper spring kit and the compressor systems are sold as separate parts, so you can install the springs now and add a WirelessONE or WirelessAIR system later. The WirelessAIR control system is app-only, per its listing.
Are the Radflo shocks for air-suspension trucks?
They are listed for the EcoDiesel, and the factory air suspension replaces the coils and shocks at each corner with air springs. That makes an air-ride truck a different setup from a coil-spring truck. Call us with your VIN before ordering shocks for an air-ride truck.
