The DS Ram 1500 was the first half-ton pickup with rear coil springs. Out back, a solid axle is located by five links, including a track bar, with coil springs, a stabilizer bar and twin-tube shocks. Some trucks have the optional four-corner air suspension instead, which swaps the coils and shocks for air springs at every corner; it is standard on Limited trims. A traction bar adds another link between the rear axle and the frame, so how it mounts depends on what is already bolted under your truck.

What to check first

Start with a tape measure. The bars come in 60-inch and 68-inch lengths, and the right one depends on the span between the axle mount and the frame mount you plan to use. Check clearance around the factory links, the track bar and the shocks. On a 2014 truck, confirm the rear shocks were taken care of under recall 14V-392, which covered rear shocks with insufficient welds that could detach; you want that settled before you add hardware back there.

Will these traction bars bolt straight onto my EcoDiesel Ram 1500?

Plan on fitting them, not just bolting them on. The bars are universal, and the WCF100842 kit supplies the brackets and hardware. Your truck's rear axle is already located by five links, including a track bar, so check clearance around that factory hardware first. Do I need the 60-inch or the 68-inch bars?

Measure the span between your axle bracket location and the frame bracket location, then pick the bar that fits that span. Measure your own truck rather than going by another truck's setup. If you land between sizes, call us before you order.

Can I rebuild worn traction bars instead of replacing them?

If you run WCFab bars, that's what the WCF207-26 kit is for: it supplies replacement bushings and heims, so you can renew the ends without buying new bars. Check the part listing to confirm it matches your bars.
