The Ram 1500 carries its solid rear axle on coil springs and a five-link setup with a track bar, not leaf springs. Air Lift's LoadLifter 5000 adds air springs at the rear for up to 5,000 lb of load-leveling capacity when you tow or haul. It levels the load; it does not change Ram's ratings. EcoDiesel Quad and Crew Cabs carry a 6,950 lb GVWR, or 6,800 lb with off-road tires or steel wheels.
Building your setup
- The springs. The LoadLifter 5000 helper spring kit (88339), with the LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Plus stainless steel upgrade (52300 and 52301) available.
- On-board air. The WirelessONE compressor system (25980 or 25980EZ) and its tank upgrade (25981 or 25981EZ), or the WirelessAIR compressor system (74000EZ), tank (74100EZ) and app-only control system (73000EZ). A replacement on-board compressor (16192) and air hose are here too.
- Load controllers. The Single Load Controller II (25592) and the Heavy Duty Dual Load Controller (25856).
- Lifted trucks. Straight air spring spacers in 2, 4 and 6 inches (52420, 52440, 52460), angled spacers in 4 and 6 inches (52445, 52465) and a universal air spring cradle (52500). Air Lift notes lifted trucks may need spacers, and large lifts with link relocation can interfere with helper springs.
Fitment notes
Check for factory air suspension before you order: it was optional from the 2013 refresh and standard on Limited models, and the LoadLifter 5000 does not fit it. Match spacer height to your lift. The WirelessAIR control system is app-only per its listing, so plan on using your phone. Everything here is for the half-ton Ram 1500 EcoDiesel; verify by VIN.
Frequently asked questions
Will the LoadLifter 5000 fit a Ram 1500 Limited with air suspension?
No. The LoadLifter 5000 is made for coil-spring trucks and does not fit factory air suspension. The four-corner air system, standard on Limited models, already has automatic load leveling built in.
Which air spring spacer do I need?
That depends on your lift. Air Lift notes that lifted trucks may need spacers, and that large lifts with link relocation can interfere with helper springs entirely. Give us your lift brand and height and we will pick the spacer.
Do air bags let me tow more?
They help the truck carry a load level, with up to 5,000 lb of load-leveling capacity from the LoadLifter 5000. They do not raise your GVWR or towing ratings; those still come from Ram's door sticker and towing charts.
