The factory Garrett GT3788V sits in the valley on a pedestal, is fed by engine oil, which also works its hydraulic vane actuator, and is water-cooled from the primary coolant loop. That layout sets the service list. The turbo-related items on these trucks are the oil supply line and pedestal, which are specific to 2017-2019, the coolant lines from the primary loop, and the CCV hose that feeds into the compressor inlet. Gaskets and clamps round out any turbo job. Browse complete turbos under turbos, or the rest of the engine on the Powerstroke hub.
What to check first
If you found oil in the intake hose or charge air cooler, do not order turbo seals yet. On this engine a loaded CCV separator pushes oil mist into the compressor inlet, and a plugged CCV is the usual cause, not a failing turbo. The recommended CCV service interval is 30,000-40,000 miles. Bearing failure is also not a 2017-2019 pattern; that belonged to the early 2011-2012 GT32.
Service parts vs. upgrade parts
For stock-turbo service, the Mahle GS33789 turbocharger mounting gasket set is listed for 2015-2019 and the Mahle F33386 turbo gasket for 2011-2026 6.7L Powerstroke. The Alliant Power AP0221 turbocharger installation kit with clamps covers 2011-2019. SPE Motorsport offers the S100152 turbo coolant feed line for 2017-2019 and the S100132 360XD turbo rebuild kit for 2015-2019. The upgrade-side pieces serve aftermarket turbos and heat control: Mahle T4 inlet and T6 flange gaskets, a PPE T4 oil drain fitting, and turbo blankets.
What we carry
Blankets come from PPE in titanium woven T4 and T6 versions, from Mishimoto as the MMHP-TB titanium blanket, and from ATS Diesel Performance as the 202-104-1000 T4 blanket. BD Diesel supplies a full Marmon V-band clamp, an exhaust V-band clamp, a high torque hose clamp and the Cool Down Timer 2. Turbosmart adds constant tension clamps in the 1.625-2.375 inch range. For finding leaks, Calibrated Power Solutions sells the Stealth Boost Tester HD regulator, its 1102F011 compressor inlet adapter for 2011-2024 6.7L Powerstroke, and an inlet adapter for S300, S400, S400R and S500 turbos.
Fitment notes
Oil feed lines and pedestals differ between 2015-2016, 2017-2019 and 2020-up trucks, so match those parts to 2017-2019. Chassis cabs use a GT3582V instead of the pickup's GT3788V, so confirm which turbo your truck has before ordering turbo-specific parts. T4 and T6 parts match turbos with those flanges; check yours first. Clamps are sold by diameter, so measure before you buy. When in doubt, verify by VIN.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my compressor inlet oily?
On the 2017-2019 6.7L the usual cause is a loaded CCV separator venting oil mist into the inlet, which then coats the charge air cooler. Service the CCV at 30,000-40,000 miles. A failing turbo seal is not the first suspect.
Will a 2015-2016 turbo oil feed line fit my 2017?
Do not count on it. Ford revised the turbo oil supply line and pedestal for 2017, and feed lines differ between 2015-2016 and 2017-2019 trucks. Order lines listed for 2017-2019, such as the SPE S100152 coolant feed line on the coolant side.
What are the T4 and T6 parts for?
The Mahle T4 and T6 flange gaskets, the PPE T4 oil drain fitting and the T4 and T6 blankets are made for turbos with those flange styles. Check the flange on your turbo before ordering. A blanket wraps the turbine housing to keep heat in the turbo instead of the engine bay.
What does the Stealth Boost Tester do?
It pressurizes the intake side so you can hunt down boost leaks. Use the 1102F011 inlet adapter on a 2011-2024 6.7L Powerstroke compressor inlet, or the S300-S500 adapter on those aftermarket turbos.
