Call or Text (352) 722-5295Turbo hardware on the 2015-2016 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke
The 2015-2016 pickup turbo is a Garrett GT3788V, a water-cooled single VGT with a hydraulic vane actuator and no wastegate, mounted in the engine valley. Every turbo job on this engine touches the same supporting pieces: the pedestal the turbo mounts to, its oil supply and drain, the mounting and flange gaskets, and the clamps that hold the boost and exhaust connections together. Charge air runs from the compressor through a hot-side tube, an air-to-water charge-air cooler and a cold-side tube. Every coupler and clamp along that path is a place boost can escape. For parts beyond the turbo, start at the Powerstroke hub.
What fails and why
On this platform, boost tubes, couplers and T-bolt clamps are the accessory items that actually fail. The big one is the factory plastic cold-side intercooler tube on 2011-2016 trucks. It turns brittle with heat cycles and cracks, and the hot-side connection can pop off the turbo outlet under load. You will see sudden power loss, a P0299 underboost code, P1247 or P0402 and limp mode. Do not drive around on it: without boost, the DPF can load with soot in 5 to 10 miles.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
When a stock turbo goes back in, use gaskets and hardware listed for your year. Mahle's GS33789 mounting gasket set is listed for 2015-2019 and the F33386 turbo gasket for 2011-2026, and Alliant Power's AP0198 pedestal mounting update kit is specific to 2015-2016. Alliant's AP0221 installation kit includes clamps and is listed for 2011-2019. When an aftermarket turbo goes in, the flange decides the parts: the T4 and T6 gaskets, the T4 oil drain fitting and the T4 and T6 blankets are for turbos built on those flanges. Constant tension and high-torque hose clamps are made to hold couplers tight, so use them wherever you reseal a boost connection.
What we carry
You will find Mahle turbo mounting gasket sets plus T4 and T6 flange gaskets, and Alliant Power AP0198 pedestal update and AP0221 installation kits. SPE Motorsport supplies the S100132 360XD turbo rebuild kit and the S100153 17-19 pedestal conversion kit for 2015-2016 trucks. BD Diesel covers Full Marmon and exhaust V-band clamps, high-torque hose clamps and the Cool Down Timer 2, and Turbosmart adds constant tension clamps. Titanium turbo blankets come from PPE and Mishimoto, ATS Diesel Performance adds a T4 turbo blanket, and PPE also makes a T4 oil drain fitting. Calibrated Power Solutions rounds it out with the Stealth Boost Tester HD regulator and compressor inlet adapters, one listed for 2011-2024 6.7L Powerstroke trucks and one for S300, S400, S400R and S500 turbos. Complete turbos are on our turbos page.
Fitment notes
Ford revised the turbo oil supply line and pedestal for 2017, so pedestal and oil-feed parts split at 2016/2017. AP0198 and SPE's S100153 are listed for 2015-2016 only, which makes them the right pick for this truck and the wrong pick for a 2017. Do not reach for 2011-2014 DualBoost hardware, such as vacuum wastegate parts or SST-specific charge pipes, on a 2015-2016. Chassis cabs run a different turbo, the Garrett AVNT3276V, so confirm whether you have a pickup or a chassis cab before ordering. Verify by VIN if you are unsure.
Frequently asked questions
How do I track down a boost leak on a 2015-2016 6.7L Powerstroke?
Pressure-test the charge-air side. The Calibrated Power Solutions Stealth Boost Tester HD regulator, paired with the compressor inlet adapter listed for 2011-2024 6.7L trucks, is built for that job. Start at the factory plastic cold-side tube and the hot-side connection at the turbo outlet, since those are the known weak points.
Which gaskets fit a stock 2015-2016 turbo?
Mahle's GS33789 turbocharger mounting gasket set is listed for 2015-2019 6.7L Powerstroke, and the Mahle F33386 turbo gasket is listed for 2011-2026. The G33430 and G32761 are T4 and T6 flange gaskets, so use them only if your turbo has that flange. Run the fitment checker on each product page against your truck.
What is the pedestal kit for?
The pedestal is the mount the turbo bolts to in the valley. Ford changed the pedestal and the turbo oil supply line for 2017, which is why 2015-2016 pedestal parts are listed separately. Alliant Power's AP0198 update kit and SPE's S100153 conversion kit are both listed for 2015-2016 trucks; read each listing to see what it includes.
Can I reuse 2011-2014 turbo hardware on my 2015?
Not the turbo-specific pieces. The 2011-2014 trucks ran the DualBoost SST3266V with a vacuum wastegate, while the 2015 GT3788V is a different turbo family with no wastegate. Wastegate hardware and SST-specific charge pipes and downpipes do not carry over. Clamps and gaskets whose listings include 2015-2016 are fine.
