Listed for 2001-2019 6.6L Duramax Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500/3500HD trucks with the Allison 1000 automatic. That spans the LB7, LLY, LBZ, LMM, LML and the 2017-2019 L5P. The Allison went from a five-speed to a six-speed for 2006, and the factory internal filters are not interchangeable across that change. This kit supplies its own deep internal filter and Merchant sells it for the full 2001-2019 range, but verify fitment by VIN, or call us with it and we'll confirm the kit for your truck. Why this part

Adding fluid capacity to your Allison transmission helps keep it cool. The larger deep transmission pan and the deep sump internal filter add approximately three quarts to the system, so the transmission has more fluid to work with every time it's under load.

That matters most on a truck that tows or makes extra power. On 2006-2007 trucks, the factory torque converter's stamped-steel cover can distort under high load, which causes slip and heat. On 2001-2004 trucks, heat while towing is listed among the signs of a struggling converter.

For the 2006-2007 LBZ, braided stainless cooler lines and a deep pan are named as the first two Allison upgrades. This all-in-one kit handles the pan side of that with no modification needed, and it puts genuine Allison filtration on the transmission at the same time.

How much fluid does the deep pan add?

Merchant rates the kit at approximately three quarts of added fluid capacity, from the larger deep pan and the deep sump internal filter. When you refill, use the correct spec: DEXRON-VI is the current fill for 2001-2005 units, and 2006-2007 units also call for Dexron VI. Check your owner's manual for later trucks.

Do I have to modify the truck to install it?

No. Merchant lists the kit as no modification needed. The pan, both filters and the deep filter lock all come in the box.

How often should I service the fluid and filters?

For 2001-2004 trucks, the service guidance we work from is fluid every 30,000-50,000 miles and the external spin-on filter every other oil change. For 2006-2007 trucks, it's fluid and filter service every 30,000-50,000 miles. For later trucks, follow your owner's manual or call us for a schedule that fits how you use the truck.
