On our site this pan is listed for 7.3L Powerstroke trucks with an E4OD or 4R100 automatic, both the 1994-1997 OBS generation and the 1999-2003 Super Duty generation. Mag-Hytec's own application list for 1990-2003 F-Series trucks equipped with an E4OD or 4R100 is broader and includes gas trucks:

• All V10 gas to 2004 (until 3 valve V10)

Why this part

This pan goes after transmission temperature two ways. The deep sump adds 7.6 quarts of increased capacity over stock, and the increased fluid capacity helps keep temperatures down. The built-in cooling fins remove heat on top of that. The pan is cast from A356-T6 aluminum with a textured powdercoat finish.

The magnetic drain plug assembly holds ferrous wear metal so it stays out of the fluid between services. The pan comes pre-drilled and tapped with a 1/8" NPT sender port, so you can add a transmission temperature sender and see what the fluid is doing when you tow. The O-ring seal requires no additional gaskets or seals.

Installation notes

Note: Due to the extended depth of the deep sump pan, this transmission pan requires the use of a 4WD filter (sold separately). Have that filter in hand before the old pan comes down. The O-ring seal requires no additional gaskets or seals. When you refill, remember the pan holds 7.6 quarts more than stock, so plan on more fluid than the factory fill amount.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a special filter with this pan?

Yes. The extended depth of the deep sump means it requires a 4WD filter, sold separately. Mag-Hytec sells a matching E4OD/4R100 filter.

Can I run a transmission temperature gauge off this pan?

Yes. The pan is pre-drilled and tapped with a 1/8" NPT sender port, so you can thread in a temperature sender. The sender and gauge are not part of the kit.

Is this the same pan as the one for a 6.0L Powerstroke?

No. This pan is for the E4OD and 4R100. The 2003-2007 6.0L uses the 5R110 TorqShift, and Mag-Hytec builds a separate deep pan for it.
