Fitment

This pan is listed for the Allison A1000 transmission behind the 6.6L Duramax in 2001-2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD/3500HD and GMC Sierra 2500HD/3500HD trucks. That covers the LB7 (2001-2004), LLY (2004.5-2005), LBZ (2006-2007), LMM (2007.5-2010), LML (2011-2016) and the 2017-2019 L5P. Why this part

The main reason to run this pan is capacity. It holds 4.5 quarts over the stock pan, so there is more fluid in the transmission. The drain plug assembly carries a magnet that holds the fine wear metal a transmission sheds, which keeps it out of the fluid between services. A 1/8" stainless pipe plug fills a port for an optional temperature sender, so the provision is there if you add a transmission temperature gauge later. The pan and drain plug arrive with their O-rings already installed, and the hardware is zinc plated allen head cap screws with stainless steel washers.

Installation notes

Note: The Allison deep pan filter must be used with the Mag-Hytec pan. Failure to do so can result in transmission failure. The filter is not in the parts list above, so order it with the pan. Torque the 8 MM X 25 MM cap screws to 12-16 ft. lbs., and plan for the extra 4.5 quarts when you refill the transmission.

Do I need a different filter with this pan?

Yes. The Allison deep pan filter must be used with the Mag-Hytec pan, and failure to do so can result in transmission failure. The filter is not part of this kit, so buy it separately.

How much more fluid does it hold?

It holds 4.5 quarts over the stock pan. Account for that when you fill the transmission after the install.

Does it come with a temperature sender?

No. The port is closed with a 1/8" stainless pipe plug for an optional temperature sender, and the sender is not included.
