2019-2024 Ram 6.7L Cummins Transmission Tuning

Transmission calibration tools for the 2019-2024 Ram 2500 and 3500 with the 6.7L Cummins. Start by knowing which transmission you have: standard-output trucks run the Chrysler 68RFE and high-output 3500s run the Aisin AS69RC. The two use different TCM strategies, so transmission content has to match the unit in your truck.

Transmission control on the 2019-2024 Ram 6.7L Cummins

Two six-speed automatics sit behind this engine, and they do not interchange. The 68RFE backs the standard-output Cummins in the 2500 and 3500; for 2019 it gained variable-force solenoid control of the torque-converter clutch, a new reverse accumulator and refined drive-to-park hydraulics. The Aisin AS69RC backs the high-output 3500 and all chassis cabs; for 2019 it got stronger planetary gears, a larger thrust bearing, extra heat treatment and a new dual-core controller with double the memory. There is no manual option, since the G56 ended with 2018. Because the two units use different TCM strategies, transmission-tune content must match the one in your truck.

Why it matters

The 68RFE is the unit to watch. Added power speeds up wear on its overdrive clutch and torque converter, and transmission slip is the warning sign. The Aisin is rated for at least 1,075 lb-ft of input torque, about 64 percent more input-torque capacity than the 68RFE.

What we carry

The EFI Live AutoCal V3 in blank form, a standalone device that loads calibration files from your provider and logs data. More tools are in our tuners collection, and the Cummins hub covers the rest of the truck.

Fitment notes

Confirm 68RFE or Aisin before ordering any transmission content. Engine calibration on 2019-2020 trucks must also match the CP3 installed under the Y78 recall. We have not confirmed a CARB EO calibration for this engine. Verify by VIN.

Frequently asked questions

How do I tell whether my Ram has the 68RFE or the Aisin?

Start with the output rating. Standard-output Cummins pickups (370 hp, 850 lb-ft) use the 68RFE, while high-output 3500 pickups use the Aisin AS69RC, which was order code DF2 and uses a 20-bolt pan. If you are not sure, call with your VIN.

Can a 68RFE transmission file be used on an Aisin truck?

No. Standard- and high-output trucks have different TCM strategies, so transmission content must match the unit. The transmissions themselves are not interchangeable either.
