The 68RFE behind every Ram 2500 and standard-output 3500 with the 6.7L Cummins has a short wear list: the overdrive clutch pack, the accumulator plate and valve body, and the torque converter clutch. When the accumulator plate warps or blows out, fluid cross-leaks and you get P0871, harsh shifts and limp mode. A worn converter clutch adds shudder at 40-50 mph and spreads debris. The fixes aimed at those failures are an upgraded accumulator plate or complete valve body, and a billet converter. Built units go further, adding overdrive clutch capacity and a heavy-duty valve body for heavy towing. On the Aisin AS69RC in high-output 3500s, the standard moves are a higher-capacity converter, more cooler flow and shorter fluid intervals.

Fitment notes
Most internal parts here are 68RFE parts listed for 2007.5-2024 trucks. They will not fit the Aisin AS69RC, and sales code DF2 on your build sheet tells you if that is what you have. Check the year range on every listing: the ATS line pressure sensor is listed for 1999-2018 and the Anchor mount for 2006-2022. The universal coolers are not truck-specific, so plan the mounting location and lines before you order.
Frequently asked questions
What does an upgraded accumulator plate fix on the 68RFE?
The stock accumulator plate can warp or blow out, which lets fluid cross-leak and sets P0871 with harsh shifts and limp mode. An upgraded plate, like the ATS accumulator plate, or a complete upgraded valve body is aimed at stopping that cross-leak before it goes further.
Why upgrade the thermal bypass valve and cooler?
Heat. BD Diesel attributes most Aisin AS69RC failures to converter-clutch slip combined with heat, and cooler-flow upgrades are one of the standard fixes. The thermal bypass valve controls when fluid goes to the cooler, so it belongs in the same conversation as a bigger cooler. ATS, BD, Mishimoto and PPE all offer one here.
