2019-2024 Ram 6.7L Cummins Fuel Rail Parts

Common-rail parts for 2019-2024 Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks with the 6.7L Cummins: complete replacement rails, rail pressure sensors, rail plugs, unions and high-pressure fittings. Know this first: if your truck has had a CP4 pump failure, the rail is on the replacement list, because the factory repair replaces lines and rails along with the injectors once pump metal gets inside.

Fuel rail on the 2019-2024 Ram 6.7L Cummins

The common rail holds fuel under pressure between the high-pressure pump and the six injectors. On the 2019-2024 6.7L Cummins it is limited to 29,000 psi, under both the CP4.2 calibration on 2019-2020 trucks and the CP3 calibration on 2021-2024 trucks. That is up from 26,000 psi on 2007-2018 trucks, and the CP4 itself could make 36,000-39,000 psi but was held back in this application. Rail pressure is controlled by the pump's fuel control actuator, and the rail pressure sensor reports what the system is making. For 2025, Ram moved to a Bosch CP8 and raised the ceiling to 39,000 psi, so do not assume 2019-2024 rail parts cross over.

What fails and why

The rail's biggest threat on this platform comes from upstream. A failing CP4.2 on a 2019-2020 truck sheds metal that travels into the rail, injectors, lines and tank. Signs include ticking, loss of power, stalling, a no-start and metal in the fuel filter, at any mileage, though many fail near 100,000 miles. Because the debris lodges in the rail, the factory procedure after a CP4 failure replaces the rail and lines along with the injectors. Some owners of 2019 trucks report misfires and rough running after the Y78 CP3 retrofit, and contamination left in the system is the usual suspect, one more reason not to reuse a rail that has seen pump metal.

Stock replacement vs. upgrade

For most owners, a rail job is a repair, not an upgrade. The Exergy complete replacement rail comes with the rail pressure sensor and pressure relief valve already installed, which keeps a contaminated-system repair simple. If only the sensor is suspect, Exergy sells the rail pressure sensor by itself. For 2019-2020 trucks still on the CP4.2, the Exergy System Saver is an improved stock-style inlet metering valve for that pump, but the OEM remedy for a CP4 truck is the Y78 recall, which is free at the dealer. The plugs, unions, T fittings and AN fittings are for owners plumbing the rail or supply side on a modified fuel system.

What we carry

Every part in this collection comes from Exergy Performance: the E05 20950 replacement fuel rail complete with sensor and PRV (2019-2024), the E05 20915 rail pressure sensor (2019-2024), the E05 20905 CP4.2 System Saver improved stock inlet metering valve (2019-2020), the 1-018-133 M18x1.5 rail plug, the 1-018-132 M18x1.5 rail end to M14x1.5 adapter, the 1-018-129 M14x1.5 union, the 1-008-003 M14x1.5 three-way T fitting, the 1-018-043 M14x1.5 plug and nut rail cap, and the 1-018-148 and 1-018-149 CP3 supply fittings in -6AN and -8AN.

Fitment notes

Read the year range in each title. The complete rail and the rail pressure sensor are listed for 2019-2024. The System Saver valve is for 2019-2020 trucks that still have the CP4.2; a truck that received the Y78 recall now runs a CP3, and parts must match the pump on the truck. The CP3 supply fittings belong on CP3 trucks: every 2021-2024 truck and recall-converted 2019-2020 trucks. Match thread sizes exactly; the titles call out M18x1.5 and M14x1.5 threads. 2025 trucks use the CP8 system and are a separate fitment. Verify by VIN.

Frequently asked questions

What controls rail pressure on a 2019-2024 6.7L Cummins?

The high-pressure pump's fuel control actuator sets rail pressure, and the system is limited to 29,000 psi on both the CP4.2 and CP3 calibrations. The rail pressure sensor reports back what the system is making. Exergy sells that sensor separately and as part of its complete replacement rail.

Do I need a new rail after a CP4 failure?

Under the factory procedure, yes. Metal from a failed CP4.2 lodges in the rail and lines, so both are replaced along with the injectors. Contamination left behind is the usual suspect when owners report misfires after the CP3 retrofit.

Should I install the CP4.2 System Saver valve or get the recall done?

If your 2019-2020 truck still has the CP4.2 and no record of Y78, the recall is the OEM remedy and it is free at the dealer. It replaces the CP4 with a CP3, reflashes the PCM and inspects the fuel system. Call us if you want to talk through where the Exergy valve fits your situation.

Will these rail parts fit a 2025 Ram?

Do not assume so. The 2025 trucks moved to a Bosch CP8 pump and a 39,000 psi ceiling, a different system from the 29,000 psi 2019-2024 setup. The rail and sensor here are listed for 2019-2024; match the year range in the title.
