2019-2024 Ram 6.7L Cummins Coolant Tanks

Coolant tanks and caps for the 2019-2024 Ram 2500 and 3500 with the 6.7L Cummins. On this truck the tank is a pressurized degas bottle, and it doubles as your early warning: an internal EGR cooler leak shows up here first as a coolant level that keeps dropping with no drips under the truck.

The degas bottle on the 2019-2024 Ram 6.7L Cummins

The 6.7L Cummins in these trucks uses a pressurized degas bottle as the fill point and level check for a 23.8-quart cooling system. Because the bottle is under pressure, check the level with the engine cold and open the cap only when the system is cold. The 2019 redesign increased cooling capacity across the system, and the tanks in this collection are built for 2019 and newer trucks. Ram's factory fill is a 10-year/150,000-mile OAT coolant, so anything you add at the bottle should be compatible with it.

What the bottle tells you

Two engine problems show up at the degas bottle before anywhere else. A level that drops with nothing on the ground points toward an internal EGR cooler leak. Look for white, sweet-smelling steam at the tailpipe on a cold start, a P2457 code, and exhaust gas aerating the coolant in the bottle. Owners of 2020 and 2021 trucks have reported cracked EGR coolers burning coolant. Coolant pushing into the bottle with overheating under load is the head-gasket pattern. Diesel Hub lists head gaskets as more common on the 6.7L than the 5.9L, but the 2019 engine's larger head bolts were meant to address that, so it is a lower-probability item on these trucks. If the level is dropping, find the leak before you replace the tank, because a new bottle will not stop coolant going into the exhaust.

Factory-style or aluminum

The WCFab OEM-placement coolant tank kit is built to mount where the factory bottle sits, as the name says. The Mishimoto degas bottle is aluminum and is listed for 2019-2025 6.7L Cummins trucks. For the cap alone, WCFab makes a billet aluminum coolant tank cap that fits a wide range of Cummins and Duramax trucks. Pick the tank by how you want it built; pick the cap if the tank itself is fine.

Fitment notes

Use the year range in each product title. Several cooling parts changed for 2019, including the radiator hoses, water pump and thermostat housing, so buy tank parts by the listed years rather than assuming an older Ram part carries over. The tanks here are listed for 2019 and newer trucks, and the billet cap covers a much wider range. After a tank swap, refill with coolant that matches the factory OAT spec and do not mix it with HOAT. If anything is unclear, verify by VIN or call us.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I check coolant on a 2019-2024 Ram 6.7L Cummins?

At the pressurized degas bottle. Check it with the engine cold and only open the cap when the system is cold. Ram's factory fill is a 10-year/150,000-mile OAT coolant, so top off with something compatible.

My degas bottle keeps dropping but nothing is leaking. What is going on?

On this engine, that pattern points toward an internal EGR cooler leak. Look for white, sweet-smelling steam at the tailpipe on a cold start, a P2457 code, or exhaust gas bubbling in the bottle. Owners of 2020 and 2021 trucks have reported cracked EGR coolers burning coolant.

Does the WCFab billet coolant tank cap fit my Ram?

It is listed for 2004.5-2024 Cummins trucks, which covers the 2019-2024 Ram 2500 and 3500, and for 2001-2024 6.6L Duramax trucks. Use the fitment checker on the product page to confirm against your truck.
