Think of the turbo as the center of a set of joints. It bolts to the exhaust manifold on one side and connects to the exhaust and the charge-air plumbing on the others. Each connection needs a gasket, a clamp or both to hold boost and keep exhaust where it belongs. On this engine the turbo is a single variable-geometry unit. VM Motori's engine family used a water-cooled VGT from its 2013-and-later versions, which carries into the 2018 Ram 1500 and 2019 Ram 1500 Classic. For 2020, Ram fitted the third-generation engine with a new water-cooled VGT and listed it among the year's major changes. That turbo change is why generation matters on this page.
Where these parts earn their place
Charge-air leaks are the practical example. Before you condemn a turbo for a P0299 code, inspect the charge-air hoses and couplers, and replace any that are cracked or chewed. A new coupler only seals as long as the clamp on it keeps its grip, which is where constant-tension and high-torque clamps come in. On the hot side, a turbo blanket holds heat in the turbine housing and keeps it off the hoses and wiring around it. And any time a turbo comes off the manifold, the joint goes back together with a new gasket.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
The MAHLE gaskets are the replacement side of this page: service parts that seal a joint the way it was sealed before. The clamps and blankets lean toward upgrade. A plain worm clamp is fine on plenty of hoses, but a constant-tension clamp is built to follow a coupler as it grows and shrinks with heat, and a V-band clamp gives a flanged exhaust joint an even grip all the way around. A blanket is purely an add-on. Choose replacement parts when you are putting a joint back the way it was, and step up to better clamps when you are already in there.

Fitment notes
Make three checks before you order. First, generation: 2018 Ram 1500 and 2019 Ram 1500 Classic trucks have the Gen 2 engine, 2020-2023 trucks have Gen 3, and Ram changed the turbo between them, so confirm turbo and turbo-line part numbers by generation. Second, flange: the T4 and T6 parts are sized for those flange styles, so match them to what's on your truck. Third, clamp diameter: measure the coupler or pipe and match it to the clamp's listed range. When in doubt, verify by VIN.
Frequently asked questions
Which gasket goes between the exhaust manifold and the turbo?
The MAHLE F33632, which is listed for 2014-2019 3.0L EcoDiesel engines. That covers a 2018 Ram 1500 and a 2019 Ram 1500 Classic. On a 2020-2023 truck, confirm the part number for the Gen 3 turbo before you order.
Why use a constant-tension clamp on a charge-air coupler?
Couplers grow and shrink as they heat up and cool down. A constant-tension clamp is built to follow that movement and keep its grip, where a plain clamp can lose tension over time. If you are replacing cracked or chewed couplers while chasing a P0299, it makes sense to put good clamps on the new ones.
Does the Gen 2 EcoDiesel turbo have coolant lines too?
Yes. VM Motori's engine family used a water-cooled variable-geometry turbo on its 2013-and-later versions, so the Gen 2 engine in 2018-2019 trucks is water-cooled at the turbo, just like Gen 3. Ram listed a new water-cooled VGT among its 2020 changes, which is why turbo-line parts need checking by generation.
