2018-2023 Ram 1500 3.0L EcoDiesel Digital Monitors

The Edge Insight CTS3 monitor for the 2018-2023 Ram 1500 with the 3.0L EcoDiesel. It plugs into the OBD-II port and turns the engine's live data into gauges you choose. On this engine the factory cluster reports the DPF only as a fill percentage, so a monitor gives you a much clearer read on what the truck is doing.

The Insight CTS3 on the 2018-2023 Ram 1500 3.0L EcoDiesel

Ram built a lot of emissions hardware into this half-ton diesel. The 2018 Ram 1500 and the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic carry the second-generation EcoDiesel at 240 hp and 420 lb-ft. The 2020-2023 Ram 1500 gets the third-generation engine at 260 hp and 480 lb-ft, with a water-cooled variable-geometry turbo and an added low-pressure EGR loop. Both generations run a DPF with active regeneration and SCR with DEF, and both talk through the same OBD-II port. That port is where the Insight connects.

What a monitor shows that the cluster does not

The factory cluster reports the DPF as a fill percentage, the exhaust filter 100% full message you may have seen, plus DEF countdown warnings. EcoDiesel owners want more than that: regeneration status, DEF level, exhaust gas temperature, boost and transmission temperature. For deep diagnostic work, owners use Mopar-capable software such as AlfaOBD to read exhaust-temperature sensor data, force regens and test the VGT actuator. A monitor is not a replacement for that kind of tool. It is the screen you look at every day, so you know what normal looks like on your truck before something changes.

What we carry

This collection holds the Edge Products Insight CTS3 (84130-3), a universal OBD-II monitor. It is a monitor only: it reads and displays data and does not reprogram the engine. You can grow it with Edge's EAS add-ons, an exhaust temperature kit and a 0-100 PSI pressure sensor, found in the Accessories collection under Digital Monitors. To give the screen a permanent home, look at the A-pillar mount in Mounts.

Fitment notes

Because the Insight is universal OBD-II, it connects to every year on this page: the 2018 DS-body Ram 1500, the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic and the 2020-2023 DT-body Ram 1500. The EcoDiesel was a Ram 1500 engine only, never a 2500 or 3500. What any monitor can display depends on the parameters each truck makes available through the port, so check the product details before you order. Mounting is where the body matters. A 2019 Ram 1500 can be either body, and only the Classic had the EcoDiesel, so read the mount listing carefully if you have a 2018 or 2019.

Frequently asked questions

Will the Insight CTS3 work on both the 2018-2019 and the 2020-2023 EcoDiesel?

Yes. It is a universal OBD-II monitor, so it connects to either engine generation. The data available can differ between trucks, so check the product details before you order.

Does the Insight tune the engine?

No. The Insight CTS3 is a monitor. It reads and displays live data and leaves the factory engine calibration alone.

Where do I put the screen?

For trucks in its listed 2019-2023 range, Edge's A-pillar mount gives the screen a fixed spot near your line of sight; check a 2019 Classic by VIN first. A 2018 falls outside that mount's listed range, so call the shop and we will talk through placement for your truck.
