2010-2018 Ram 6.7L Cummins Transmission Filters

68RFE filters on the 2010-2018 RAM 6.7L Cummins

On the 68RFE behind the 6.7L Cummins, the filter is changed with the fluid. A service takes six to eight quarts of Mopar ATF+4 plus the filter. Ram lists the interval at 120,000 miles in normal service and 60,000 miles in severe service. Dropping the pan for a filter also shows you what is sitting at the bottom of it, and metal in the pan is one of the signs of a failing 68RFE.

What we carry

PPE offers a 68RFE pan filter and a high-efficiency spin-on fluid filter listed for trucks running the PPE deep pan. BD Diesel has a transmission filter service kit and a 68RFE threaded filter adapter. Mag-Hytec makes a 68RFE transmission filter, and XDP sells a 68RFE transmission filter clamp.

Fitment notes

Check the dipstick before you order. The 68RFE dipstick is on the passenger side; the Aisin dipstick is on the driver side, and Aisin trucks wear the HO badge. The PPE spin-on filter is listed for trucks with the PPE deep pan, so a truck with the factory pan should start with the pan filters. Most filters here carry 2007.5-2024 fitment, while the Mag-Hytec filter and XDP clamp are listed 2007.5-2018. G56 manual trucks do not use any of these. Verify by VIN.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I change the 68RFE transmission filter?

Change it every time you change the fluid. Ram lists that at 120,000 miles for normal service and 60,000 miles for severe service, and the filter goes in with six to eight quarts of Mopar ATF+4.

Will these filters fit my High Output 3500?

Not if it has the Aisin AS69RC. The High Output 3500s from 2013 use the Aisin, and Aisin parts never fit a 68RFE truck or the other way around. Look for the driver-side dipstick and HO badge to confirm. Aisin trucks also run Mopar ASRC fluid, not ATF+4.
