2010-2018 Ram 6.7L Cummins Digital Monitors

OBD-II monitors for the 2010-2018 Ram 2500 and 3500 with the 6.7L Cummins. This collection carries the Edge Insight CTS3, a universal OBD-II monitor that reads data the truck already reports and leaves the tune and the emissions equipment alone. What it can show depends on your year: DEF readouts only apply from 2013 on.

OBD-II monitors on the 2010-2018 Ram 6.7L Cummins

The fourth-generation Ram 2500 and 3500 is an OBD-II CAN truck from the first 2010 model, so a monitor that plugs into the diagnostic port can read engine data, DPF and regeneration status and transmission data. For a 6.7L Cummins, the readouts that earn their spot on the screen are exhaust gas temperature, boost, DPF soot load and regen status, transmission fluid temperature on the 68RFE or the Aisin, and DEF level on 2013-2018 pickups.

A monitor is a window, not a wrench. It reads and displays. It does not rewrite the engine calibration, and it does not touch the emissions hardware your truck left the factory with.

Why a separate monitor

Uconnect 8.4 came on upper trims with the 2013 redesign, and it has its own complaints: owners of 2016 and newer trucks report 5-10 minute radio startup delays and camera dropouts, and 2018 trucks had a backup camera mirror recall (18V-398). A standalone monitor gives you engine and transmission data on its own screen, whatever the head unit is doing.

What we carry

The Edge Insight CTS3 (84130-3) from Edge Products is a universal OBD-II monitor. Universal means it is not built around one truck; it reads the standard diagnostic port, which your 2010-2018 Ram has. Edge also makes add-on EAS sensors, and for this truck we carry the EAS EGT kit (98620) and the EAS pressure sensor (98607) in the accessories collection, plus the Edge A-pillar display mount (38602) in the mounts collection.

Fitment notes

Parameter availability varies by year. A 2010-2012 pickup predates Ram's move to SCR and DEF, which came for 2013, so DEF readouts apply to 2013-2018 trucks only. Check the soot and regen parameters for your exact year as well. Automatic trucks run the 68RFE, except 2013-2018 3500s with the High Output engine, which use the Aisin AS69RC. If you have a 3500, 4500 or 5500 chassis cab, it got SCR and DEF earlier, from 2011, and uses different frames and exhaust routing, so verify its fitment separately.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Insight CTS3 a tuner?

No. It is an OBD-II monitor: it reads and displays data and does not change the engine calibration. If you are shopping for a display to watch what your 6.7L is doing, this is the right shelf.

What should I watch on a 6.7L that tows?

Start with exhaust gas temperature, boost and transmission fluid temperature, then add DPF soot load and regen status. On 2013-2018 pickups, keep DEF level on a screen too. Those readouts tell you how hard the truck is working and what the aftertreatment is doing.

Will a universal monitor work on my 2012 Ram 3500?

It plugs into the same OBD-II port every 2010-2018 Ram has. What changes is the data: a 2012 pickup predates DEF, so DEF readouts do not apply, and you should confirm the soot and regen parameters for that year. Use the fitment checker on the product page with your exact truck.
