2007.5-2009 Dodge 6.7L Cummins Leveling Kits

Leveling kits for the 2007.5-2009 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 with the 6.7L Cummins. These trucks leave the factory about 3 inches nose-low, and a leveling kit takes out some or all of that rake. Daystar Comfort Ride kits are here in 1, 1.5 and 2 inch heights for 2WD trucks, plus a 1 inch front kit for 4WD.

Leveling the 2007.5-2009 Ram 6.7L Cummins

Under the 6.7L Cummins, these trucks use the third-gen HD chassis. The 4x4 has a solid front axle on coils with a four-link and a track bar, and the rear rides on leaf springs. Stock rake is about 3 inches, nose down. Thuren Fabrication notes that lifting the front 3 inches shifts weight rearward and drops the rear about 1/2 inch.

What a level changes

A level is a front-end job. Thuren's guidance for a 2 to 3 inch front level on the 4x4 is coils, shocks and a track bar, keeping the stock control arms, with little or no change in the rear. The track bar is the part to watch. The factory bar is the primary cause of death wobble on these trucks, and Thuren puts an OEM bar on a lifted truck at roughly 20,000 miles. If yours is original, an adjustable or heavy-duty bar is the first upgrade.

Stock replacement vs. upgrade

Pick the height by how much rake you want gone. A 1 inch kit takes out about a third of the factory rake and leaves the nose slightly down. A 2 inch kit gets you closer to level. Thuren's all-around setup for the 4x4 is 3 inches up front with 3/4 to 1 inch in the rear. Past 3 inches you are into control arms and longer brake lines, which is lift territory, not leveling.

Fitment notes

Drivetrain is the big split. The 2WD trucks use an independent front end, so the 2WD kits and the 4WD kit are not interchangeable. Suspension fitment follows the chassis, not the engine, which is why these kits cover 1994-2013. If you plan to add rear lift or air bags later, keep in mind that 2500, 3500 and dually rear spring packs differ. Confirm your drivetrain and verify by VIN before you order.

Frequently asked questions

How much rake does a stock 2007.5-2009 Ram 2500 have?

About 3 inches, nose low. That is the stock stance on these trucks with the factory front four-link and rear leaf springs. A 2 inch front kit takes out most of it; a 1 inch kit takes out about a third.

Do I need a new track bar with a leveling kit?

For a 2 to 3 inch front level on the 4x4, yes: Thuren's list for that height is coils, shocks and a track bar. Even at 1 inch, the factory bar is the primary death-wobble cause on these trucks, and new bushings alone will not fix it, so inspect it while you are under there.

Will leveling the front make the rear sag?

A little. Raising the front shifts weight rearward and drops the rear about 1/2 inch. Thuren says the rear needs little or no change for a front level, and their all-around setup adds 3/4 to 1 inch in back.

Which kit fits my 2WD Ram?

The KC09102BK (1 inch), KC09103BK (1.5 inch) and KC09100BK (2 inch) are the 2WD kits. The 2WD front end is independent, so the 4WD KC09117BK will not fit it. Check the product page fitment for your year and cab.
