2007.5-2009 Dodge 6.7L Cummins Taillights

Tail light assemblies for the 2007.5-2009 Ram 2500 and 3500 with the 6.7L Cummins. Tail light fitment for these trucks runs 2007-2009 on the 2500/3500 and crosses to the 2007-2008 Ram 1500. Before you replace a lamp because the brake lights will not shut off, check the brake light switch first; owners commonly trace that symptom to the switch, not the housing.

Tail lights on the 2007.5-2009 Ram 6.7L Cummins

The tail lights on your truck have nothing to do with the 6.7L Cummins that arrived for 2007.5. They belong to the third-generation HD body, which ran through 2009 on the 2500 and 3500. The same tail light fits the 2007-2009 Ram 2500/3500 and the 2007-2008 Ram 1500. One detail to watch: tail light fitment for this body starts at 2007, while headlight fitment starts at 2006. Do not assume a part listed for one end of the truck covers the same years at the other.

What fails and why

Tail light housings on these trucks have no well-known failure pattern. The complaints owners do report are electrical: brake lights stuck on, which commonly comes back to the brake light switch, and lights dropping out, which commonly comes back to the TIPM, the underhood power module. Neither is fixed by a new housing. Diagnose first, then replace the lamps if you still want new ones.

Stock replacement vs. upgrade

Tail lamps for this body come as OE-type units and as LED assemblies. Everything in this collection is an LED upgrade that replaces the full factory housing. If a lens is broken and you want the truck to stay stock, an OE-type lamp is the match. If you are replacing one anyway, or already changed the headlights, an LED set keeps the back of the truck in step with the front.

What we carry

Fitment notes

Fitment is 2007-2009 Ram 2500/3500, shared with the 2007-2008 Ram 1500. Do not use parts for a 2009 Ram 1500; that truck moved to the fourth-generation body. On a 3500 dually the tail light assembly is the same fitment, but DRW trucks also use fender-mounted marker lights that are separate from it. Chassis cab owners should confirm fitment before ordering, and anyone unsure should verify by VIN.

Frequently asked questions

Will these tail lights fit a 2008 Ram 3500 dually?

Yes. The tail light fitment covers 2007-2009 Ram 2500/3500, single or dual rear wheel. A dually also has fender-mounted marker lights, which are separate parts and are not replaced by a tail light assembly.

My brake lights will not turn off. Is it the tail light?

Usually not. Owners of these trucks commonly trace brake lights stuck on to the brake light switch. Have the switch checked first and see if the problem clears before you buy housings.

Can I use tail lights from a 2009 Ram 1500?

No. The 2009 Ram 1500 moved to a new fourth-generation body, while the 2500 and 3500 stayed third-gen through 2009. Your truck shares tail lights with the 2007-2008 Ram 1500, not the 2009.
