When the 6.7L Cummins replaced the 5.9L partway through 2007, the body carried over unchanged from the 2006 refresh, headlight openings included. So a headlight for this truck is really a headlight for the 2006-2009 Ram 2500/3500. That works in your favor. There is a wide range of assemblies for this body, including crystal, LED and projector designs, and the engine under the hood never enters the fitment question.
What fails and why
There is no well-documented failure pattern for the headlight housings on these trucks. If a headlight drops out, look upstream before you replace it. Many owners trace random light dropouts to the TIPM, the underhood power module that can cut power to components without warning. A new housing will not fix that, so rule it out first.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
An OE-type headlight puts the truck back to factory. Everything on this page is an upgraded replacement instead: a complete projector housing, with LED lighting on the Luxx and Nova lines, that takes the place of the factory lamp. Choose OE-type if you want the truck to look stock. Choose an upgrade if you are changing the look of the front end or want projector optics.

- Luxx-Series LED projector headlights: black (880535), alpha-black (880533) and chrome (880534).
- Nova-Series LED projector headlights: black (880541), matte black (880536), gloss black (880538) and chrome (880537).
Fitment notes
Headlight fitment is 2006-2009 Ram 2500/3500 and 2006-2008 Ram 1500. A 2009 Ram 1500 headlight is a different part for the fourth-generation body and will not fit. Chassis cab owners should confirm fitment on the product page or call. Verify by VIN if you are unsure what you have.
Frequently asked questions
Is the headlight on my 2008 Ram 3500 the same as on a 2007 Ram 1500?
Yes. The 2006-2008 Ram 1500 and the 2006-2009 Ram 2500/3500 share headlight fitment, so the same assemblies cover both. The exception is the 2009 Ram 1500, which moved to a new body.
Which AlphaRex headlights are LED?
The Luxx-Series and Nova-Series are listed as LED projector headlights. The Pro-Series is listed as a projector headlight without the LED designation. All three replace the complete factory housing.
One headlight keeps cutting out. Is the housing bad?
Maybe, but check the power side first. On these trucks, many owners trace lights dropping out to the TIPM rather than the lamp. Have the circuit checked before you spend money on housings.
