Call or Text (352) 722-5295The fuel rail on the 2007.5-2009 RAM 6.7L Cummins
The 6.7L Cummins is a high-pressure common-rail engine. The gear-driven Bosch CP3 fills a single rail, and the rail holds fuel at up to about 26,000 psi for six solenoid injectors. A rail pressure sensor reports that pressure to the engine computer; the genuine Cummins part for these trucks is 5297640, listed for 2007.5-2012. Fleece also catalogs a fuel distribution block and high-pressure lines for the 2007.5-2009 trucks.
Diagnosing rail pressure problems
Rail pressure codes on these trucks can start upstream of the rail. Diesel Hub lists rail pressure codes among the symptoms of fuel filter neglect, and Fleece ties low rail pressure (P0087), hard starts after sitting and stumbling under load to the factory lift pump, especially below a quarter tank. Change the filter and confirm supply before you buy a rail, sensor or relief valve. If those check out, the sensor and rail parts here are the next step.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
For a stock repair, the genuine Cummins 4937282 fuel rail (2007.5-2018) and the XDP XD601 new rail assembly (2007.5-2012) replace the factory rail, and the Cummins 5297640 sensor replaces the factory rail pressure sensor. For built fuel systems, Dynomite Diesel offers the DDP67CRC-V2 fuel rail and a rail pressure sensor rated to 240 MPa (34,800 psi), well above the factory 26,000 psi range. Exergy Performance sells pressure relief valves by rating, starting at 1800 bar (26,000 psi) and stepping up from there, along with rail plugs, unions and adapters. Dual-pump builds use parts like the Fleece FPE-34196 junction block with a rail sensor port.

Fitment notes
Year ranges vary inside this collection, so read each listing. The Cummins rail pressure sensor and the XDP rail are listed for 2007.5-2012, the genuine rail for 2007.5-2018, the BD distribution block for 2003-2009 and the PPE valve for 2007.5-2010. Several Exergy and BD pieces are also listed for 2004.5-2010 Duramax engines; that is normal for shared hardware, but make sure the listing names the 6.7L Cummins. Confirm the truck is a 2007.5 6.7L and not an early-2007 5.9L, and verify by VIN when in doubt.
Frequently asked questions
My truck set P0087. Do I need a new rail or sensor?
Not necessarily. Fleece ties P0087 low rail pressure codes on these trucks to the factory lift pump, and Diesel Hub lists rail pressure codes as a symptom of an overdue fuel filter. Start with the filter and the supply side, then look at the sensor and rail.
What rail pressure does the stock 6.7L run?
The Bosch CP3 system on the 2007.5-2009 6.7L runs up to about 26,000 psi. Upgrade parts in this collection are rated above that, such as the Dynomite rail pressure sensor at 240 MPa (34,800 psi).
Which Exergy relief valve should I pick?
The valves are listed by bar and psi rating. The higher ratings are meant for modified fuel systems with upgraded pumps and injectors. If your truck is stock or you are not sure, call the shop before you change the factory setup.
