Call or Text (352) 722-5295Fuel additives for the 2007.5-2009 RAM 6.7L Cummins
The 6.7L Cummins runs a Bosch CP3 that pushes rail pressure to about 26,000 psi into solenoid injectors with 7-hole nozzles. It is also a DPF-era engine. Diesel Hub flags fuel dilution and particulate loading as this engine's own issues, not fuel quality. The two consumables it cares about most are low-ash CJ-4 oil and clean, water-free fuel. That puts additives in the maintenance column: lubricity and anti-gel, not a repair.
What an additive can and can't do
An additive will not stand in for a fuel filter. Chrysler calls for the engine filter every 15,000 miles or 12 months, and filter neglect, not fuel chemistry, is the top preventable fuel problem on these trucks. Water is a filtration job too; the sensor in the filter housing turns on the water-in-fuel light. If you have low power or a rail pressure code, check the filter and the lift pump before you reach for a bottle.
Everyday treatment vs. winter formulas
Pick by how and where you drive. Everyday treatments are made for routine use at fill-up. Dedicated lubricity products, such as Hot Shot's Secret LX4 Lubricity Extreme and Alliant Power LUBRIGUARD, focus on that one job. Anti-gel and winter blends are for trucks that see real cold. If your Ram lives in Florida like the trucks in our Wildwood bays, you may rarely need one, but a winter trip north is a different story. Cleaners and cetane boosters, like Lucas Oil Diesel Deep Clean and Cetane Power Booster, round out the shelf.

Fitment notes
Fuel additives are not year-specific the way filters and injectors are, so the treatments here suit a 2007.5-2009 6.7L. Follow the dose rate on the label for your tank. Keep the rest of the maintenance picture in view: the engine oil on this DPF engine should be a low-ash CJ-4 grade, and the fuel filter element is year-specific, so confirm it by VIN.
Frequently asked questions
Does the 2007.5-2009 6.7L Cummins need a fuel additive?
Not to fix a known defect. Diesel Hub points to fuel dilution and particulate loading as this engine's issues, not fuel quality, so an additive is about lubricity and cold-weather protection. Clean, water-free fuel and a filter on schedule matter more.
Will an additive clear a low rail pressure code?
Do not count on it. Diesel Hub ties rail pressure codes on these trucks to fuel filter neglect, and Fleece ties low rail pressure to the factory lift pump. Check the filter, then the lift pump, before you spend money on a bottle or on injectors.
Which additive should I use in winter?
Pick an anti-gel or winter formula: Hot Shot's Secret Diesel Winter Anti-Gel or EDT + Winter Defense, Alliant Power WINTERGUARD, Lucas Oil 10865 Anti-Gel or Exergy Winter Blend. Hot Shot's Secret Diesel Winter Rescue is sold as an emergency product, separate from the anti-gel you add ahead of the cold.
