1994-1998 Dodge 5.9L Cummins Fuel Rail Parts

Fuel rail fittings tagged for the 1994-1998 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 with the 5.9L Cummins. Read this before you order: the 12-valve has no fuel rail. Its Bosch P7100 inline pump feeds six individual injection lines, so the Exergy fittings on this page are common-rail hardware, not parts a stock 12-valve uses.

How fuel reaches the injectors on the 1994-1998 Dodge Ram 5.9L Cummins

The 12-valve Cummins runs a mechanical inline pump. Six plungers ride on the P7100's own camshaft, a rack rotates them to meter fuel, and a mechanical governor, a boost-referenced AFC and a fuel plate limit how much goes in. Each plunger feeds one steel injection line, and each line runs straight to a mechanical pop-off injector. There's no rail, no rail pressure sensor and no electric lift pump anywhere on the engine.

Why fuel rail parts show up here

A product listed as a fuel rail part for a 1994-1998 12-valve is either mis-tagged or built for the 2003-and-later common-rail trucks. The same goes for parts sold as fuel rail or lift pump parts for 1998.5-2002 VP44 trucks; those don't fit the 12-valve either. We'd rather tell you that here than have you order a part your engine can't use.

What we carry

Exergy fittings: an M18x1.5 rail plug, an M18x1.5 rail-end to M14x1.5 adapter, an M14x1.5 union, an M14x1.5 three-way tee, an M14x1.5 plug and nut sold as a rail cap, and M12x1.5 to -6AN and -8AN high-flow CP3 supply fittings. They're made for common-rail plumbing. If you also run a common-rail truck, this is where they are. For your 12-valve, shop the pages below.

What your 12-valve uses instead

  • Injection lines: genuine Cummins lines #1 through #6 and the injector return line are on the fuel lines page.
  • Injectors: new stock-HP replacements and injector sets are on the injectors page.
  • Pump parts: replacement P7100 pumps, an overflow valve and a block-off plate are on the injection pumps page.

Fitment notes

A 1998 can be either engine, because Dodge switched to the 24-valve ISB in the middle of the model year. A 12-valve has the P7100 inline pump with a mechanical shutoff solenoid on top. A 24-valve has the VP44 rotary pump with a wiring harness. Know which one you have before you order anything fuel-related, and if you're unsure, verify by VIN.

Frequently asked questions

Does my 1994-1998 Cummins have a fuel rail?

No. The P7100 feeds six individual steel injection lines, one per injector. Rail plugs, rail caps and rail adapters belong to common-rail engines.

Will a CP3 supply fitting work on my 12-valve?

Not on a stock 12-valve. Its injection pump is the mechanical Bosch P7100, fed by a cam-driven mechanical lift pump on the block, so there's no CP3 to plumb.

I have a fuel leak. What should I check instead?

Most 12-valve leaks come from rubber, not steel: the return hose under the intake manifold near the filter boss and the short hoses at the lift pump. Replace them with diesel-rated, heat-resistant hose and screw-band clamps.
