Call or Text (352) 722-5295Turbo accessories on the 2020-2022 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke
The factory turbo on a 2020-2022 pickup is a Ford LC3Z-6K682-A variable-geometry unit with a water-cooled bearing housing, sitting in the valley between the heads. The turbo itself is only part of the job. The VGT solenoid and actuator are serviced separately from the cartridge, and the pedestal, oil feed and drain, and coolant lines are the parts you touch on any turbo service. Every joint between the turbo and the air-to-water charge air cooler is a place boost can escape, and it pays to replace a flange gasket any time that flange comes apart.
What goes wrong
Turbo failures are rare on well-maintained 2020+ trucks, per Bostech. The complaints that do show up are lazy boost, surging, a weak exhaust brake and P0299 underboost, and those trace to boost leaks, sticking vanes or sensors. BD Diesel's advice is to eliminate leaks first, and a clamp or gasket is the simplest fix on that list. Coolant fitting leaks at the turbo were documented on 2015-2016 trucks; on 2020-2022 trucks that is a check point rather than a proven pattern, so coolant residue in the valley with no drips on the ground is worth a look.
Stock-style service parts vs. aftermarket fit
Some of this page is service hardware for a stock setup, like the MAHLE F33386 turbocharger gasket listed for 2011-2026 6.7L trucks. Other parts are named for T4 or T6 turbine flanges: the MAHLE G33430 and G32761 gaskets, the T4 and T6 turbo blankets and the PPE 516002000 oil drain fitting. Match those to the flange on the turbo you actually run. Clamps are sized by diameter, so measure the joint before you order; the Turbosmart constant-tension clamps here are listed in a 1.625-2.375 size range. The Calibrated Power Solutions inlet adapters are turbo-specific too: the 1102F011 fits the 2011-2024 6.7L Powerstroke compressor inlet, and another covers S300, S400, S400R and S500 turbos.
What we carry
Gaskets come from MAHLE: the F33386 turbocharger gasket, the G33430 T4 inlet flange gasket and the G32761 T6 flange gasket. Clamps come from BD Diesel, including the 1453602 full Marmon V-band clamp, the 1405926 exhaust V-band clamp and a high-torque hose clamp, with Turbosmart constant-tension clamps alongside. Turbo blankets come from PPE (titanium woven, in T4 and T6 versions), Mishimoto (the MMHP-TB titanium blanket) and ATS Diesel Performance (the 202-104-1000 T4 blanket). PPE also supplies the 516002000 T4 oil drain fitting. For leak testing, Calibrated Power Solutions offers the Stealth Boost Tester HD regulator plus its inlet adapters. Browse all diesel turbos, or shop the whole Powerstroke catalog.
Fitment notes
The factory turbo changed for 2020, so check that a service part is listed for your years; the MAHLE F33386 is listed for 2011-2026 and the 1102F011 adapter for 2011-2024. Pickups and chassis cabs use different factory turbos on these years (LC3Z versus LC4Z-6K682-A), and 2023+ High-Output trucks route coolant to the compressor cover, so HO plumbing is not a 2020-2022 part. If you are replacing the turbo, remember the VGT solenoid is serviced separately and may not come in the box. Use the fitment checker, and verify by VIN when in doubt.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find a boost leak on a 2020-2022 6.7L?
Pressurize the intake side with a boost tester and listen and feel for escaping air at each clamp and coupler. The Calibrated Power Solutions Stealth Boost Tester HD regulator and its inlet adapters are built for that job. Fixing leaks first is the standard advice before anyone condemns the turbo.
Which turbo blanket do I need?
Match the blanket to the turbine flange. PPE offers woven titanium blankets in T4 and T6 versions, ATS lists a T4 blanket, and Mishimoto offers its MMHP-TB titanium blanket; read each listing for the turbo it is cut to fit. If you run a stock turbo, check the product page or call before ordering a flange-specific blanket.
Is coolant loss around the turbo a known problem?
Coolant fitting leaks at the turbo were documented on 2015-2016 trucks, and the water-cooled bearing housing carries over to 2020-2022. On these years it is a check point rather than a proven failure, so if you lose coolant without drips on the ground, look for residue in the valley around the turbo lines.
Does a new turbo come with the VGT solenoid?
Not always. The VGT solenoid and actuator are serviced separately from the turbo cartridge, and at least one aftermarket supplier ships its 2020+ turbo without the solenoid. Read what is included on the listing, and plan to reuse or replace the solenoid as part of the job.
