Call or Text (352) 722-5295Exhaust manifolds on the 2020-2022 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke
The 6.7L uses reverse-flow heads, so the exhaust ports face the valley and the turbo sits between the banks. Each bank has a short manifold on its valley side, and an up-pipe carries that exhaust from the manifold to the turbine inlet. The 2020 model year brought the third-generation 6.7L, rated 475 hp and 1,050 lb-ft in the pickups, and the manifold parts for 2020-2022 are standard-output parts. The 2023 and newer High-Output engine uses stainless manifolds and a different turbo, so it is a separate fitment.
What fails and why
Manifold leaks and cracks show up across 6.7L years. The causes are thermal cycling, thin castings and weak hardware, and the pattern shows up most on high-mileage trucks and trucks that tow heavy. Symptoms to watch for:
- A tick on a cold start that quiets as the engine warms
- Soot trails at the manifold flanges
- Slower turbo spool
- A burnt smell
Up-pipe leaks read like manifold leaks, with soot and slow spool, and the two are serviced together. Exhaust leaks are also one known cause of DEF/SCR/NOx faults on this engine, so do not let a leak ride.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
The fix for a cracked manifold is an OEM-style casting. BD's recommendation is high-silicon ductile iron with thicker walls and flanges, which addresses the cracking pattern without changing any emissions hardware. Because weak hardware is part of the problem, replace the bolts with the manifold. Compare the material and construction on each listing before you choose.
What we carry
PPE has its 316115100 exhaust manifolds, listed for 2020-2026. SPE Motorsport offers the S100187 driver's-side exhaust manifold for 2020-2025, S100313 CNC-machined manifold flanges with EGT, and a manifold set listed for 2011-2026. Dorman covers the hardware with the 675-224 kit (85.2 mm length) and the 675-223 kit (70 mm length), both listed for 2011-2022. The collection also carries turbo-mounting hardware: SPE's S100138 Emperor T4 manifold kit for 2020 and newer, a BD Diesel 1044106 T3-to-T4 manifold adapter flange and an ATS Diesel Performance 45mm wastegate adapter. Those are build parts rather than factory replacements, so read each listing's application notes. More exhaust parts live in our exhaust section.
Fitment notes
Everything on the hot side for 2020-2022 is standard-output, so skip parts made for the 2023 and newer High-Output engine. Year ranges differ by part: the PPE manifolds start at 2020, so they are not listed for 2017-2019 trucks, while the Dorman kits and the SPE flanges reach back to 2011. The Dorman kits come in different lengths, so match the length you are replacing. The SPE S100187 is the driver's side only. When in doubt, verify by VIN.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know my 6.7L exhaust manifold is cracked?
The common sign is a tick on a cold start that quiets as the engine warms. You may also see soot trails at the flanges, notice slower spool or smell something burnt. Up-pipe leaks read the same way, so inspect both before you order parts.
Should I replace the manifold bolts too?
Yes. Weak hardware is one of the causes of manifold leaks on the 6.7L, so new hardware belongs in the job. Dorman sells kits in 85.2 mm and 70 mm lengths for 2011-2022 trucks; match the length you are replacing.
Will 2023 High-Output manifolds fit my 2022?
Do not plan on it. The 2023 and newer High-Output 6.7L uses stainless manifolds and a different turbo, and the 2020-2022 manifold parts are standard-output only. Buy parts listed for your year and your engine output.
