2020-2022 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke Cold Air Intakes

Cold air intakes and intake kits for the 2020-2022 Ford F-250, F-350 and F-450 with the 6.7L Powerstroke, from S&B, Banks, AFE, No Limit Fabrication, WCFab, PPE and SPE Motorsport. The one thing to know: intake kits split at 2020, so a kit built for a 2017-2019 Super Duty is the wrong part for your truck.

Cold air intakes on the 2020-2022 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke

Ford gave the 2020-2022 6.7L Powerstroke a fully enclosed airbox on the passenger side. It feeds the turbo in the valley, and from there the air goes through the air-to-water charge air cooler and on to the composite two-piece lower intake manifold Ford introduced for 2020. A cold air intake replaces the front of that path: the airbox, the filter and the tube to the turbo. The goal is more airflow with good filtration. Some kits keep a box around the filter, like the S&B 75-5140 and the WCFab 4-inch kit with air box. The S&B uses a fully enclosed airbox with a removable silicone box plug, so you can run it in two airflow configurations. S&B also lists a 75-6002 open air intake filter for 2020-2026 trucks.

What fails and why

On these trucks the most common intake-side complaints sit downstream of the airbox: boost leaks at the charge-pipe couplers and cracked plastic charge pipes. Add oil mist from the crankcase ventilation coating the intercooler and cold-side pipe, and soot collecting on the MAP sensor of the 2020-and-later intake. A new cold air intake does not fix any of those. If you have a hiss under boost, low power, high EGTs or a P0299 underboost code, have the charge-air system smoke tested before you put money into an intake.

Stock replacement vs. upgrade

Keeping the factory box and changing filters on schedule is a fine choice. If you want more airflow, the makers' claims are specific. S&B says the 75-5140 flows about 39 percent more air than stock with its cotton element and about 37 percent more with its dry element, at 99.42 and 99.54 percent filter efficiency. Banks says its Ram-Air 41849 adds about 36 percent mass airflow over stock. The AFE Momentum HD comes in Pro Dry S and Pro 10R filter versions, so you can choose your media. The No Limit Fabrication 67CAI20 and the WCFab 4-inch kit round out the list. A MAP sensor relocation spacer, like the PPE 315672030 here, is a separate add-on for the 2020-and-later MAP sensor, which collects soot over time.

If CARB rules apply where you live, check coverage before you buy. S&B states the 75-5140 is 50-state compliant on 2020-2026 F-250 and F-350 trucks, with no EO for the F-450. For any other kit, look for an EO number that covers your exact truck and year.

Fitment notes

Intake kits split at 2020. The Banks Ram-Air 41849 is listed for 2020-2022 only and the S&B 75-5140 for 2020-2027, so do not order a 2017-2019 kit for your truck. The AFE Momentum HD kits are listed for 2020-2025 and the No Limit Fabrication and WCFab kits for 2020-2026, which all include your years. Emissions coverage can differ by model: S&B's CARB statement on the 75-5140 covers the F-250 and F-350, and the same kit on an F-450 has no EO. Chassis cabs share this engine but are separate products, so check the listing before ordering for one. Verify by VIN, use the fitment checker, or call us.

Frequently asked questions

Is the S&B cold air intake CARB legal on my 2020-2022 F-250?

S&B states the 75-5140 is 50-state compliant on 2020-2026 F-250 and F-350 trucks. That coverage does not extend to the F-450, where the same kit has no CARB EO. Check the listing for your exact truck before you order.

Will my old 2017-2019 intake fit my 2020 F-350?

Do not plan on it. Intake kits split at 2020, and a 2017-2019 kit should not go on a 2020-2022 truck. Order a kit that lists 2020-2022 in its fitment.

How much airflow does a cold air intake add on the 6.7L?

Go by the maker's numbers. S&B claims about 39 percent more airflow with cotton and about 37 percent with dry on the 75-5140, and Banks claims about 36 percent more mass airflow from the Ram-Air 41849. Those are airflow claims, not horsepower numbers.

Does the Banks Ram-Air fit a 2023 Super Duty?

Banks lists the Ram-Air 41849 for 2020-2022 trucks only. The 2023 Super Duty is a new generation, so look for a kit whose listing includes 2023. The fitment checker on each product page will tell you.
