Call or Text (352) 722-5295Air filters on the 2020-2022 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke
From the factory, the 6.7L Powerstroke breathes through a fully enclosed airbox on the passenger side. Every bit of air the turbo compresses passes through that filter first, so the element is the starting point for the whole charge-air system. You have two ways to go. You can keep the factory box and change elements on schedule, or you can run an aftermarket cold air intake that uses its own element. This collection covers both: a drop-in filter, replacement elements for S&B, Banks and No Limit Fabrication intakes, and pre-filter wraps.
When to change it
An air filter does not break. It loads up. Ford's schedule for these trucks replaces the engine air filter at 10,000-15,000 miles under severe duty. Under normal duty, Ford has you inspect it at 15,000 miles and replace it by 30,000. If you are not sure which schedule matches how you use the truck, the severe-duty number is the safer one to follow. Write the mileage down when you change it so you are not guessing next time.
Stock replacement vs. upgrade
A factory-style element in the stock airbox is the simplest route. Confirm the factory filter number by VIN before you order a Motorcraft element. The upgrade route is a cold air intake, and with it comes a choice of filter media. S&B sells its 75-5140 intake with either a cotton cleanable or a dry extendable element. S&B claims about 39 percent more airflow than stock with cotton and about 37 percent with dry, at 99.42 and 99.54 percent filter efficiency. Cotton gets cleaned and re-oiled; dry gets replaced. Banks lists its 41831 and 41831-D replacement elements for its Ram-Air intake, which it rates at about 36 percent more mass airflow than stock.
What we carry
- S&B KF-1050 and KF-1070 replacement filters.
- S&B WF-1062 and WF-1031 filter wraps, which go over the element as a first layer against dust and debris.
- The SPE Motorsport S100200 drop-in filter, listed for 2020-2025.
- The Banks Power 41831 air filter element.
- The No Limit Fabrication NLRF cold air intake filter.
Fitment notes
Buy the element for the intake, not just the truck. The KF-1050 is the element for the S&B 75-5140 intake, and the Banks 41831 goes with the Banks Ram-Air. Several filters here carry wide year ranges. The NLRF, for example, is listed for 2003-2026 6.0L, 6.4L and 6.7L trucks. A range like that describes the intake the filter was made for, not every airbox on those years, so match it to what is under your hood. If your truck still has the factory airbox, confirm the stock filter by VIN or call us.
Frequently asked questions
How often should I replace the air filter on my 2020-2022 6.7L?
Ford's severe-duty schedule replaces it at 10,000-15,000 miles. On the normal schedule you inspect it at 15,000 miles and replace it by 30,000. When in doubt, use the severe-duty number.
Cotton or dry: which S&B element should I pick?
S&B offers the 75-5140 with either one. Cotton is cleanable, and S&B rates it at about 39 percent more airflow than stock; dry is the extendable option at about 37 percent with a slightly higher stated efficiency. If you want to service it yourself, pick cotton. If you want to swap it and go, pick dry.
What is the factory air filter number for my truck?
Confirm it by VIN before you order. Give us the VIN when you call and we will match the element, or use the fitment checker on the product page. If you run an aftermarket intake, you need that intake's element instead of the factory one.
