2020-2022 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke Upgraded Air Filters

Drop-in air filter upgrades for the 2020-2022 Ford F-250, F-350 and F-450 pickups with the 6.7L Powerstroke. A drop-in element goes into the factory airbox, so the rest of the intake stays stock. The one thing to know: intake parts for these trucks split at the 2020 model year, so a filter or intake made for a 2017-2019 truck is not a safe guess here.

Air filters on the 2020-2022 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke

Air on this engine starts at a fully enclosed factory airbox on the passenger side and runs to the turbo, which sits in the valley between the reverse-flow heads. Boost then travels through a charge pipe to the air-to-water charge air cooler and on to the composite two-piece lower intake manifold Ford introduced for 2020. The filter is the first thing all of that air touches, and it is the easiest part of the Powerstroke intake path to keep in good shape.

When to change it

Ford's severe-duty schedule replaces the engine air filter every 10,000 to 15,000 miles. On normal duty, Ford has you inspect it at 15,000 miles and replace it by 30,000. Check your owner information to see which schedule matches how you use the truck, and write the install date and mileage somewhere you will see it so you are not guessing at the next service.

Stock replacement vs. upgrade

A stock-style element keeps the truck exactly as Ford built it. A drop-in upgrade replaces only the element and leaves the factory airbox and ducting in place, which makes it the simplest change you can make on the intake side. A full cold air intake is a different job. It replaces the airbox, and intake kits for these trucks are sold specifically for 2020-on, so a 2017-2019 kit should not go on your truck. If you go that route, look for a kit with a CARB EO number that covers your exact truck, and browse complete kits on our intakes page.

What we carry

This collection carries the SPE Motorsport S100200 Drop-In Filter, listed for 2020-2025 6.7L Powerstroke trucks. It is an air filter made to drop into the factory housing on these years. Read the product page for the filter media and the service instructions before you order, so you know up front whether the element gets cleaned or replaced.

Fitment notes

These trucks are the refreshed fourth-generation Super Duty: F-250, F-350 and F-450 pickups in XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum and Limited trims, plus F-250 and F-350 Tremor trucks. Ford's chassis cabs share the 6.7L but are separate products, so confirm those by VIN. On any truck, confirm the correct air filter by VIN before you order.

Frequently asked questions

Will this drop-in filter fit my 2019 F-250?

Not as listed. The SPE Motorsport S100200 is listed for 2020-2025 trucks, and intake parts for the 6.7L are sold separately for 2020-on. Go by the year range on the listing and verify by VIN before you buy.

How often should I change the air filter on a 2020-2022 6.7L Powerstroke?

Ford's severe-duty schedule calls for a new engine air filter every 10,000 to 15,000 miles. Normal duty means inspecting it at 15,000 miles and replacing it by 30,000. Pick the schedule that matches how you actually use the truck.

Is a drop-in filter the same as a cold air intake?

No. A drop-in filter replaces only the element inside the factory airbox. A cold air intake replaces the airbox itself, and kits for these trucks are specific to 2020-on. If you want a full kit, look for one with a CARB EO number that covers your truck.
