2020-2022 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke Air Intake Accessories

These are the air intake accessories for the 2020-2022 Ford F-250, F-350 and F-450 with the 6.7L Powerstroke: MAP sensor spacers, filter wraps, a filter cleaning kit, couplers, clamps, gaskets and emergency air shutdowns. On these trucks, the MAP sensor on the 2020-and-later intake collects soot over time, and a relocation spacer is one way to deal with it.

Intake accessories on the 2020-2022 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke

The 6.7L Powerstroke moves air through a chain of joints. Air leaves the airbox, goes through the turbo, gets cooled in the air-to-water charge air cooler and returns through the cold-side pipe to the composite two-piece lower intake manifold Ford introduced for 2020. Every handoff along the way is sealed by a coupler, a clamp, an O-ring or a gasket, and the MAP sensor sits on the intake to read what arrives. The parts on this page keep those joints tight, keep the filter clean and help protect the sensor.

What fails and why

Couplers are the classic leak point. Boost leaks at the charge-pipe couplers show up on every 6.7L year, 2020-2022 included, and trucks that tow a lot see them more. The signs are a hiss under boost, oily residue at the joint, low power, high EGTs and a P0299 underboost code. Some of that oil comes from the crankcase ventilation, which carries oil mist into the charge air and leaves couplers weeping as miles and idle hours add up.

The MAP sensor is the other one to watch. On the 2020-and-later intake it collects soot over time, most often on high-mileage trucks, and soot on the sensor fouls its readings.

Stock replacement vs. upgrade

For a leaking coupler, the stock fix is a new factory-style boot and clamp. The other route is a silicone coupler with its own clamps, like the S&B 4-inch silicone coupler with clamps, or a BD Diesel high-torque hose clamp on a good boot. For the MAP sensor, you can replace a fouled sensor and leave the mounting stock, or add a relocation spacer. Banks says relocating the 2020-2026 sensor extends its life by protecting it from soot buildup. The spacers here from PPE, S&B and SPE Motorsport are relocation spacers for that same 2020-and-later sensor.

What we carry

  • MAP sensor spacers: the PPE 315672030 relocation spacer, the S&B 82-1006 spacer kit and the SPE Motorsport S100321 spacer/relocator.
  • Filter care: S&B WF-1062 and WF-1031 filter wraps and the S&B 88-0008 Precision II cleaning and oil kit.
  • Couplers, seals and gaskets: the S&B 4-inch silicone coupler with clamps, the XDP XD459 intercooler adapter O-ring seal and SPE S100314 intake manifold gaskets.
  • Emergency shutdowns: BD Diesel positive air shutdown valves, including 3-inch and 3.5-inch sizes, and the BD 1036757 E-PAS emergency engine shutdown.
  • Clamps: the BD Diesel high-torque hose clamp.

Fitment notes

The MAP sensor spacers are 2020-and-later parts. The PPE and S&B pieces are listed for 2020-2026 and the SPE piece for 2020-2025, so they match your truck but not a 2017-2019. Filter wraps follow the element, not the truck: the WF-1031 carries the same year list as the S&B KF-1050 element, while the WF-1062 is listed for 2011-2026, so match the wrap to the element you run. The XDP XD459 O-ring is made for XDP's XD305, XD364 and XD458 pipes. Positive air shutdowns are sold by tube size, so measure your intake tube before choosing a 3-inch or 3.5-inch valve; the E-PAS is listed for 2020-2025 Powerstroke trucks. The SPE gaskets are listed for the factory intake manifold, so confirm the listing covers 2020-2022. If anything is unclear, verify by VIN or call the shop.

Frequently asked questions

Why would I add a MAP sensor spacer to my 2020-2022 6.7L?

The MAP sensor on the 2020-and-later intake collects soot over time, especially on high-mileage trucks. A relocation spacer changes where the sensor sits. Banks says relocating the 2020-2026 sensor extends its life by protecting it from soot buildup, and the spacers here are made for that same sensor. It works with the sensor you already have.

What does a positive air shutdown do?

It is a valve in the intake tract that can close off the engine's air supply. A diesel cannot run without air, so closing the valve shuts it down. BD Diesel sells sized valves in 3-inch and 3.5-inch versions plus the E-PAS emergency engine shutdown listed for 2020-2025 Powerstroke trucks.

Do I need the S&B cleaning and oil kit?

Only if you run a cotton, cleanable element. S&B sells its 75-5140 intake with either a cotton cleanable or a dry extendable element, and the Precision II kit is for cleaning and re-oiling the cotton one. A dry element does not get oiled.
