2017-2019 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke Compound Turbo Kits

Compound turbo kits for the 2017-2019 Ford F-250, F-350 and F-450 with the 6.7L Powerstroke. Know this before you shop: a compound kit is a high-horsepower build for trucks past the stock turbo's airflow limit, and we have not verified a CARB Executive Order for any compound kit on this platform, so do not count on one being 50-state legal.

Compound turbos on the 2017-2019 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke

From the factory, these trucks run one turbo: a Garrett GT3788V variable-geometry unit with no wastegate, oil-fed and water-cooled, sitting in the valley on a pedestal that Ford revised for 2017 along with the oil supply line. A compound kit stages two turbochargers in series, with one compressing air and feeding it to the other. On an engine with its turbo in the valley, that means new mounting, new plumbing and a different airflow path. See the whole category at turbos, or the rest of the engine at the Powerstroke hub.

Why owners look at compounds

Not because the stock turbo fails. The bearing problems of the early 2011-2012 GT32 are not a 2017-2019 pattern. The reason is airflow. On tuned trucks, the stock GT37 becomes the ceiling around 540 rear-wheel horsepower, and past that drive pressure and exhaust gas temperatures climb. The single GT37 is the main barrier above that level, and a compound kit is aimed at power beyond it. A stock or mildly modified truck never gets near that point.

Emissions and legal use

A CARB Executive Order number is what certifies an aftermarket part as emissions-legal in all 50 states. We have not verified one for any compound kit on the 2017-2019 6.7L. If your truck must stay emissions-legal, a compound kit is not the place to start. Look for a CARB EO number on any turbo product page, and call the shop before you buy if you are unsure.

What we carry

The No Limit Fabrication 67CTK compound turbo kit is listed specifically for 2017-2019 6.7L Powerstroke trucks. SPE Motorsport offers the Death Stalker compound turbo kit, listed for 2011-2020-up, and the Ultimate Turbo System Bundle, listed for 2011-2019. Read each product page for what the kit includes and what else it requires.

Fitment notes

Turbo pedestals and oil feed lines differ between 2015-2016, 2017-2019 and 2020-up trucks, so a kit that spans several model years still has to be set up for your truck's pedestal. Pickups and chassis cabs use different factory turbos, the GT3788V and the GT3582V, so confirm which one you have before ordering. When in doubt, verify by VIN.

Frequently asked questions

Does a stock 2017-2019 6.7L need a compound kit?

No. The factory GT3788V is not a known failure item on these years, and its airflow ceiling only shows up around 540 rear-wheel horsepower on tuned trucks. A stock truck is well below that.

Is a compound turbo kit emissions-legal on my truck?

We have not verified a CARB Executive Order for any compound kit on the 2017-2019 6.7L. Without one, you cannot count on a kit being legal in all 50 states. Check the product page and call us before ordering.

Which compound kit is built for 2017-2019 trucks?

The No Limit Fabrication 67CTK lists 2017-2019 6.7L Powerstroke fitment. The SPE kits cover wider year ranges, so confirm on the product page that the kit is set up for the 2017-2019 pedestal and oil feed.
