2017-2019 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke Radiators

Primary and secondary radiators for the 2017-2019 Ford F-250, F-350 and F-450 Super Duty with the 6.7L Powerstroke, from CSF, Mishimoto and XDP. These trucks run two radiators, a smaller low-temperature secondary mounted in front of the primary, so the first thing to settle is which one you're replacing.

Radiators on the 2017-2019 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke

The 6.7L Powerstroke has two separate cooling loops and a radiator for each. The primary radiator handles the high-temperature loop: block, heads, engine oil cooler, turbo, heater core and EGR cooler. The secondary radiator sits ahead of it and handles the low-temperature loop that serves the air-to-water charge air cooler, fuel cooler and transmission oil cooler. On 2017-and-later trucks the primary radiator connects with quick-disconnect fittings at the inlet and outlet.

What fails and why

Radiator leaks were a common complaint on the first-generation 2011-2014 trucks and are less common on this generation. So before you condemn a radiator for coolant loss on a 2017-2019, rule out this generation's known weak spots: the plastic degas tanks, which crack or weep at the seams, and the factory air-to-water intercooler, which can leak coolant internally into the intake with no external leak to find. If the radiator itself is the problem, the choice is between a factory-style core and more capacity.

Stock replacement vs. upgrade

If you just need a sound radiator back in the truck, CSF's OEM-style units are the direct route, built for either position. If you want more, Mishimoto's aluminum primary radiator uses an extruded-tube aluminum core and is rated at 37% more capacity and 20% more fin area than stock, with direct-fit quick-disconnects. On the secondary side, XDP's Xtra Cool XD467 is a direct-fit replacement secondary radiator.

What we carry

  • Primary radiators: CSF 3849 OEM-style replacement (listed 2017-2026) and Mishimoto MMRAD-F2D-17 aluminum primary (listed 2017-2024).
  • Secondary radiators: CSF 3850 OEM-style, standard output (listed 2017-2025) and XDP XD467 Xtra Cool direct-fit (listed 2017-2025).

Fitment notes

Primary and secondary radiators are not interchangeable, so order by loop. Ford's 2017-2019 primary radiator hoses are Motorcraft KM-5475 upper and KM-5517 lower; with the radiator out, it's the right time to look them over. Refill with the coolant type already in the truck and never mix types. Total capacity on 2017-2020 trucks is about 31.7 to 35.1 quarts across both loops. Chassis cab owners should confirm fitment by VIN.

Frequently asked questions

Which radiator is the primary on a 2017-2019 6.7L?

The primary is the larger radiator, mounted behind the smaller secondary. It cools the engine's high-temperature loop and uses quick-disconnect fittings on 2017-and-later trucks. The secondary, up front, serves the low-temperature loop.

Is an aluminum radiator worth it?

It depends on how you use the truck. Mishimoto rates its aluminum primary at 37% more capacity and 20% more fin area than stock. If the truck just needs a sound radiator again, CSF's OEM-style unit is the direct replacement.

Will a radiator from a 2011-2016 truck fit my 2017-2019?

Don't assume so. 2017-and-later primary radiators use quick-disconnect inlet and outlet fittings. Order by your truck's year, check the year range on the listing, and confirm with the fitment checker on the product page.
