2017-2019 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke Front Differential Covers

Front differential covers for 4x4 2017-2019 Ford F-250, F-350 and F-450 Super Duty trucks with the 6.7L Powerstroke. The front axle on these trucks is a Dana 60-family monobeam, so you are shopping Dana 60 covers. Two-wheel-drive trucks use Twin-I-Beam front suspension and have no front differential, so nothing here applies to them.

Front differential covers for the 2017-2019 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke

The 4x4 F-250 and F-350 front axle is a Dana 60 with a 9.75-inch ring gear, 35-spline outer shafts and 1480 u-joints. The F-450 pickup uses a wide-track version of the same axle family. The front holds 2.7 to 2.9 quarts of 80W-90, and Ford's change interval is 150,000 miles normal or 50,000 severe. Pulling the cover drains the axle, so a cover swap and a fluid change are the same job. The front-end complaints logged against the 6.7L Powerstroke Super Duty of this era point to steering and suspension wear items such as ball joints, unit bearings, tie-rod ends and the track bar rather than the differential, so a new front cover is usually about a reseal, a damaged cover or an upgrade.

Picking a front cover

PPE lists its Dana 50/60 front covers as 10-bolt, heavy-duty cast aluminum. AFE offers a Street Series and a Pro Series version, both listed for 2017-2023 Powerstroke trucks. Mag-Hytec's 60-FF and the SPE Motorsport Dana 60 cover are catalogued across several Powerstroke generations. The ATS Diesel Performance drain plug is a spare plug for ATS pans and covers, not a cover by itself.

What we carry

Fitment notes

The narrow-track F-250/F-350 front axle and the wide-track F-450 axle do not share shafts or hubs, so F-450 owners should confirm fitment on each product page before ordering. Several covers here list a long span of years; use the fitment checker rather than the title alone. Not sure? Call with your VIN.

Frequently asked questions

Does a two-wheel-drive F-250 or F-350 need a front differential cover?

No. Two-wheel-drive 2017-2019 trucks use Twin-I-Beam independent front suspension with no front differential. These covers are for 4x4 trucks with the Dana 60 monobeam.

What fluid goes back in after a front cover swap?

SAE 80W-90 gear oil, 2.7 to 2.9 quarts, per Ford's maintenance schedule. Ford's interval for that fluid is 150,000 miles normal or 50,000 severe, so a cover swap is a good time to start the count over.

Will an F-250 front cover fit an F-450 pickup?

Do not assume it. The F-450 pickup uses a wide-track front axle that does not share shafts or hubs with the narrow-track F-250/F-350 axle. Check F-450 coverage with the fitment checker on the product page before you order.
